Actually thinking this through, I think the reason it died was not driver choice, it's because I briefly hooked it directly to the battery before I knew better, something you should never do because diodes will pull more and more power until they kill themselves from overheating.

Dang Arcticdude, I still can't get over how amazing of a build this is. You can change the color to pure yellow and purple. Would you ever consider building one for forum members?

I'll comment. I bought the diode originally and burned it out by trying to use a survival laser driver which I chose incorrectly. Then I bought the diode again the pre installed nano driver and it worked great. That's what I recommend.

I usually clean my lenses with my 3800 psi pressure washer. Works like a charm.... :crackup: :edit: I also make sure to use sodium hydroxide cleaning formula in the washer.

It's good. Some of them last a long time, some don't. It's cheap enough to not hurt buying. It'll have a visible beam and might pop balloons if focused.

Thanks Chris. It's someone else camera and I was using rhe 18-55mm I believe. It was a special deal that came with that and one other 300x lens. Is $479 for that whole kit a good deal?

I wouldn't call >$100 cheap. Sanwu makes some for $55. Might be a deal if you need a very large one though.
