    First laser build problems

Yeah, just wanted to make sure you checked the driver. Really sucks to blow a diode. At least when you get your new module, it'll be ready to go!

Quantum "spooky action at a distance" travels at least 10,000 times faster than light

Re: Quantum "spooky action at a distance" travels at least 10,000 times faster than l I've read a few science ficction stories where quantum entanglement was used for faster-than-light communication. Definitely interesting!

    First laser build problems

I wouldn't just assume it was a charged output cap. I've disconnected the diode from driver like that on several builds and haven't had this happen. I didn't even think the output cap could charge up like that while still attached to the diode, then fry said diode upon reconnect. Except it...

    Just wanted to say hello

Welcome! We could definitely use your skills. There's not to many coders around, so that might come in handy..

    Take a look please

Well, I certainly don't know as much about this as Cyparagon does, but one thing that came to mind is how the load is connected. Maybe you have alligator clips connected to the diode leads. I'm not saying you do, but if you did, that could be a problem. Maybe cyp wanted a picture of the whole...

    Take a look please

It could be argued that the quoted post is rude. It's obvious to me that there is a load connected to the wires indicated in the picture. Yet you chose to point out the obvious instead of what was asked.

Is there a list for sizes and compatibility?

You don't really need the power supply, but it can be useful. I've built most of my lasers, but do not have one(though I do want one). You can use the same batteries we use in our laser for a power source. The multimeter will be fine, I use a cheap one. I also recommend getting or building a...

    New member!

Welcome! That is possibly the best introduction I've seen. Definitely better than mine... I look forward to seeing a thread on your project.

    LaserBTB

This thread will tell you. Just FYI, I found that thread by typing "how to calculate divergence" into the search bar at the bottom of the page...;)

Proper method for focusing high power lasers?

You don't necessarily have to take off the goggles, just use the dot as a guide. It it is far enough away, just adjust until the spot is as small as possible. The beam diameter is harder to judge than spot size. As for focusing the laser while on, get a focus adapter and replace the focus ring...

FS: 445nm Laser In Custom Built Host. 9mm diode, 2x18650 PRICE LOWERED!

Re: FS: 445nm Laser In Custom Built Host. 9mm diode, 2x18650 Oh yeah, easily 1600mW. I've had two of these diodes at 1.8A, and topped out over 2W. Nice host! Of course all of your hosts I've seen are awesome.

    Looking for a 473nm or 589nm handheld/lab laser

Not quite. The host are different, and I have yet to hear of someone getting an underspec JetLasers laser. In fact, I can't recall anyone having anything but minor issues with JetLasers, and they have excellent customer service. Edit: wow, $399 for up to 100+mW 473nm... me likely..

    Looking for a 473nm or 589nm handheld/lab laser

Jetlasers has 30mW 473nm for $379-$399. Their lasers tend to be overspec, so you may get one very close to 50mW. They are the only ones I have seen with 473nm that cheap, outside of B&W tech labbies.

    Noob Build NDG700 520nm

Nice! Glad it seems to be pumping out the photons. Once you get the diode in the Cypreus, that will give you a bit more of a runtime. Plus, you won't have the steel around the copper to hold that heat in.

FS: Google Nexus 5 - price drop, $200

    Noob Build NDG700 520nm

Yes, if you only used one 18650 thats why it was dim. The x-drive requires two batteries, though as you have seen, one will work. It just can't fully power up the laser with one. You can get the battery extension tube from survival lasers and use two 18650s, or get some 16340s. The C6 host (all...

    Noob Build NDG700 520nm

Did you use that 1 18650 battery in the picture above? If so, that's the problem, you need 2 charged li-ions to run it full power.

    NDG7475 1W 520nm - Cutting Out??

Did you get the battery extention tube for the S4? I ask because you are using 18650s in a host that usually takes 16340/18350 batts. Just making sure your using 2 batteries.

    LPF app?

I get on with my Galaxy tab 3 all the time. The biggest problem with with my phone is the small screen. Once I figured out how to leave a comment while giving rep, it's not bad. (On my tablet)

    New Member and Laser Recommendation

And what condition is this 1W green laser in? Got a power chart to back up that claim? A 1W 520nm or 532nm in new/like new condition is easily worth $500+.
