    Remember to exercise those argons!

Finally got a new fan for my rectangular head and fired up tonight. Not shockingly even after sitting in storage for seven months it fired on the first pulse. May need fabricobble an adapter so I can use the blower from from cylindrical head since this one might not be moving enough air.

    Remember to exercise those argons!

Awesome shot with the galvos. I have a set I ordered in a GB here years ago for a planned DYI projector that I've never even used. I should dig them out and figure out how to hook them up and use them with my argons. Sadly I've neglected my argons for months since for most of June, July, and...

    505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

Man every time I check this thread makes me want one of each of those diodes more and more. Of course it's been so long since I've built a laser I dunno what drivers and hosts are available anymore.

    505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

Pretty sad that whoever got the package either didn't just bring it to you or give it back to the mail carrier as a misdelivery.

    505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

480+ would have been nice but if more become available even at the 473-6 range I'd be very interested in one or two depending on price.

    505nm diode?

480nm would be amazing but I suspect the price will be insane.

    505nm diode?

Hmm. Been awhile since I've poked around LPF and if these turn out to be 505nm I might have to build my first laser in several years. 505nm is getting oh so close to my personal holy grail of 488nm. (Yes I know they exist but are ungodly expensive)

    Replacement fan for JDSU Argon

LOL. Got busier than a one legged man at an ass kicking contest and forgot I posted this thread. The head in question is a JDSU 2211-65ML. I'll poke around amazon and see what I can find for it. Thanks again!

    Replacement fan for JDSU Argon

Hey all just a quick question. I noticed while giving my argons a run the fan on my rectangular JDSU head wasn't moving as much air as it used to. Unfortunately there's no CFM rating on the fan and the manual doesn't seem to say either. Any ideas on what CFM I should get? I assume the more the...

    Remember to exercise those argons!

It's got a ton of hours on it. About 9k IIRC when I looked. I also noticed at idle it was doing 1mw and at 10A only 10mw when it used to do about 5mw and 40-42. I think sadly it may be getting close to EOL but seeing as I paid all of $90 for it I wouldn't be too upset if that's the case.

    Remember to exercise those argons!

Hmm. I don't get this. It worked fine less than a week ago and fired on the second or third pulse after warming for maybe 2-3 minutes at most then ran fine for an hour. It's lasing for a split second on each pulse so it's not like the tube suddenly sprung a leak and degassed. Guess it's time to...

    Remember to exercise those argons!

So much for that. It flat out refuses to start. Let it warm for 20 minutes and nothing. Just ticks away. Have to mess with it this weekend and see if I can get it to fire again.

    Remember to exercise those argons!

Finally made time to fire up my other argon and to my shock it fired on the second pulse after only warming for maybe 2 minutes while I attached the exhaust ducting to it. Maybe it is slowly getting nursed back to health when I actually remember to run it.

    Remember to exercise those argons!

So after 9+ months of sitting on my shelf I got the Argon twins out tonight. Only have enough room in the workshop/office to set one up at a time thanks to the annoyingly short umbilical on the cylindrical head. Not really too surprisingly my bigger one fired on the first pulse which I honestly...

    Cyonics/Uniphase 2201-25ML Multiline Argon

Awesome "little" laser! I have two JDSU Uniphase branded ML argons. Great pics too. As Sta said capturing the true colors of a split beam is almost impossible even with a DLSR.

    Remember to exercise those argons!

Heh pretty much the exact same reasons both mine have sat idle since April.

    Remember to exercise those argons!

Le sigh. Has it really been almost 7 months since I've ran mine?

    Rainbow by Pman

Nicely done. One of my goals is to get a rainbow shot of my collection (soonish I hope) but I've yet to manage to figure out how to do it and make it look good even with my modest collection. I was also waiting an attempt to fill a hole in my wavelength collection but I'll be damned if I can...

    Holy @#$%... $100 488nm diode!!

Re: Holy @#$%... $120 488nm diode!! Damn! It's been awhile since I've had the urge to build another laser but I'd love to have a handheld 488 to go with my argons.

The Golden Company: LPF's Compendium of the Rare Yellows, from Chartreuse to Amber.

Nice compilation! Just a minor correction though. I have two 594 HeNe (One is an REO tube and the other is Coherent branded). Both tubes do ~3mw after warm up. My 589nm handheld is a CNI PGL-III-C. It's rated at 80mw but does 110+ after warm up.
