    ►CLOSED AMK GB◄ ~ SF-AW210 Diodes $10 Each

Re: ►AMK GB◄ ~ SF-AW210 Diodes $10 Each There was description on HTD about these SF red diodes and recommended current was 380mA, the same as for LPC-815 LOC. I have few lasers using this Short Open Can diode @410mA and none of diodes have died yet.

Custom high current drivers for 445s?

Yes, you can use that capacitor. LM317 doesn't have problems with large capacitors.

    Post your mA and mW

If you want to push 1A through diode then you need 1.25ohm resistor (2W) How much voltage do you give to LM317? You can't power it up with one Li-ion battery, you must use 2xLi-ion (2x18650 would be great).

    ►CLOSED AMK GB◄ ~ SF-AW210 Diodes $10 Each

Re: ►AMK GB◄ ~ SF-AW210 Diodes $10 Each This red diode from SF sled can work just as LOC from LPC. 380-420mA without problems. I noticed that wings are more noticeable with this diode from SF but can do great job for its price.

Custom high current drivers for 445s?

He wants stable driver, he doesn't mind about heat. LM317 can give up to 1.5A, if he needs more current then he can go for LM350.

Custom high current drivers for 445s?

6USD for only one chip is too much. What you need is adjustable LM317 chip, resistor, potentiometer, capacitor and heatsink. If you want to limit current to 700mA then you need to use 1.78ohm resistor (1W or bigger resistor) and 5ohm potentiometer (1W or bigger). Just connect resistor and...

Custom high current drivers for 445s?

Then Lm317 is perfect driver for you. It's very stable driver and you can use pretty big capacitors to protect diode from voltage spikes. If you have space for heatsink and about 7V power supply then this would be the best IMHO :) What current you want to achieve?

    445nm Laser Diode Compilation Thread

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread Maybe it depends from driver to driver.

Is there an "average current" yet?

Why to use that? I can use Lm317 in TO220 package but heat dissipation will be the same because I have to use 2x Li-ion batteries. All needless voltage has to be converted to heat. Only way to decrease heat is to use 1x18650 battery , but then you need boost driver. And that costs :)

Is there an "average current" yet?

I've just tested AMC driver. I used only one AMC7135 chip powered by 8V and with dummy load that has forward voltage of 3.4V on 300mA. And used one of these UF 501B heatinks just to cool down one AMC chip. I tested for over 63 minutes to see if AMC is stable at these voltages. And AMC...

    445nm Laser Diode Compilation Thread

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread This projector uses 445nm laser for blue, red LED for red and phosphoric wheel that gives green light when illuminated with blue laser.

Is there an "average current" yet?

For now we can say it is. Because none of diode has died yet

Is there an "average current" yet?

Yes, DDL can also be the cheapest but you need LM1117 in TO220 package (not Lm317) for these lasers and chip must be heatsinked and also you need at least 1.25W 1.25ohm resistor (If you want 1A current). AMC looks like easier solution.

Is there an "average current" yet?

If you plan to use AMC7135 then you need 2xLi-Ion batteries and if you have 18650 host then you can use 2x18350. But you most know that AMC7135 is going to boil on that voltage and you need to use heatsink. But I think that is the cheapest driver for that diode.

    Test load for 445nm

I know that we can use 1ohm resistor for current readings but Eudaimonium mentioned 5ohm resistor to use as a dummy load.
  18. ReNNo

    Test load for 445nm

True, but we want to simulate diode. If we put just 1ohm resistor then forward voltage would be 1V. 5ohm is closer to Blue diode, it'll make 5V voltage drop on 1A current. Even resistor is not what we want. We can use it just for certain current. Changing current forward voltages changes...

My third IR laser build, 1W, 808nm, 1x18650

I've just finished with my third IR laser build...that is the last diode I had. It's almost the same as my last build. (UF host, AMC7135 1.4A driver,2x plastic aixiz lenses, 1x18350) Only difference is that I use 808nm diode and "better" heatsink :) Status LED is still there :) Here is my last...
