Yeah I wasn't expecting it to be all that strong but I thought it would be at least a solid milliwatt. Do you know what model it is or what it is worth?

I have this HeNe laser. The gas tube is about the size of a dollar. It says it's made by uniphase. Any idea of the specs of it? I searched around on google but couldn't find anything that looked like it.

That's my other thought. If I can't build the x y scanner I thought it would be fun to build a dac controlled spirograph but as the other poster mentioned there isnt really and software for it. I know about arduino, could that be used to control an xy scanner?

Yeah I called it by the wrong name. I really want a computer controlled xy scanner. I need to know where to get the galvos from. I can't find anywhere to buy them from.

I was kind of hoping to be able to switch between using the DAC and computer and using the full color driver. That way I could switch between portable mode and a more advanced mode that is not so portable. Do you think that would be possible? I imagine you would just have 2 different circuits...

I'd like it to produce animations if possible. I didn't know it wasn't called a spirograph. What is in an x,y scanner? Do you have a rough picture of how to do it?

If it doesn't I will just use an actual DAC from DX. That's the DAC everyone usually uses.

So I could change between the computer controlling it or using just the pre programmed patterns? That's exactly what I wanted to do. :) In that case I will be ordering a loaded kit with the full color driver soon in the next month or 2.

Ok thanks. I'll do some more research on how to wire the flexmods and DAC. I think I want to make it so that you could switch it between computer control or portable 7 color laser driver.

I plan to build a spirograph projector using rog's 7 color laser kit. I think I want it to be computer controlled flexmod and a DAC. I'm not exactly sure what a DAC is but I know it is necessary it. Where can I get the flexmods and how many do I need? I also need to know where to get a DAC...

Any idea how many flexmods I would need? Is it 1 flexmod per laser or 1 for all the lasers?

Do you know how much the flexmod drivers cost and where you can buy them? What is a DAC? I have a laptop that I could run the lasers off of.
