Made in LPF - Support Your Fellow Laserists FIRST!

This thread will certainly make life easier for anyone who wants parts. It would have at least made my life easier if it existed at the end of June, when I returned after a 5 year break, not knowing anyone anymore. That would certainly make life it even easier, although it will need...

    Repairs on 532nm pen

I had a green 5mw too. After I gutted it from the tiny host to use it in a would-be projector, it stopped lasing green and only IR came out. The crystals and optics look unharmed and dust-free. They are just too fragile to play with.

Screw this, I'm going direct drive!

Today I was just thinking about making a laser driver that has low and high modes selectable by toggling the switch. Then I realized i barely have time for anything lately, let alone a micrococntroller-driven adjustable driver.

    First build -optical power problem

Pattern looks good to me. As for power estimation, aim at your (white!) ceiling during the day (with or without lens). If you see a blue haze on your desk, you're fine. If it's nowhere near that, you might have an expensive LED.

Don't you have the problem that black tailcaps stink like car tyres? Mine in my MXDL really do, and make my fingers stink too after some use.

    semi-ghetto peltier-cooled handheld lab device

Re: semi-ghetto peltier-cooled handheld lab decive I might be wrong, but I think my switch can't handle 4A, lol.

    semi-ghetto peltier-cooled handheld lab device

Here's my latest build, my first 445nm. It starts out with the idea of peltier-cooling it because I heard it becomes really hot at full power. I looked around my workshop for something that could hold an Aixiz to a peltier and found a plate with a convenient looking springly clip, and I found a...

Cajunlasers going out of business sale

I just went to the page of BlitzBuck V3.1 (Rectangular) Adjustable 1.2-3.1A to see the datasheet... product gone... many many products gone... Then I found this thread. It seems I was just in time with my order on the 8th w/ an M-140. I was told that I had to go to Cajunlasers because he's the...

FS: X-Drive V6 3A Buck Driver "Sale and Info"

I see that at Cajunlasers they are sold for $20 while you're offering them here for $15. Is that because that shop isn't yours? Who's is it? Is it possible to get then for $15 at Cajunlasers so I don't pay shipping twice? (I also have other orders at Cajunlasers)

    WTB bare(or sled) REDs 5.6mm >240mW ($15) [found]

Re: WTB bare(or sled) REDs 5.6mm >240mW ($15) I thought that sounded familiar, so I looked up the LOC, and it's lpc-815 :D Sorry, can't mount C-mount in aixiz and I want to keep my laser pen. That's the site I found, and that red is 3.8mm. His 5.6mm start at $40.

    WTB bare(or sled) REDs 5.6mm >240mW ($15) [found]

I just ran out of my supply of 20x diodes, so I'm looking for replacements. (latest died after at least 20 hours by way of shining in a reflective surface.) I haven't been in the scene for a few years, and I find out the age of $15 Long open cans is long gone. Wat are the popular replacements...

    Your IQ?

There is a difference between "intelligent" and "smart" (aka knowledgeable). Besides these, there are also high-functioning autism spectrum disorders and other strongly correlated conditions like Savant syndrome. These are all separate variables of ones life. Being knowledgeable is often seen as...

    Your IQ?

I have a high IQ and have partial dyslexia coupled with a bad so-called analog memory. My associative memory is nothing wrong with, but I just cant seem to remember information with no relation to other information, like with topics such as language, history, biology, politics, chemistry, but...

Is the universe infinite or finite?

When talking about the size of the universe, we usually talk about the size of the visible universe, which is defined as the speed of light times the age of the universe. (*suppressing urge to look the number up on the internet*) Nothing concrete is known about the size of anything beyond that...

    Your IQ?

Beside what I said about people lowering themselves in order to communicate with the mainstream, there is also the possibility that you are actually more intelligent than you give yourself credit for. It is a common phenomena that intelligent people underestimate themselves, because they just...

    Your IQ?

I dunno, I took the test more than a year ago. At least one of those is the very last question.
