BOTH SOLD: Twins of Destruction! >2 Watt 445nm C8 KITS!

It's not good to put your laser so close to the thermopile. Light that gets reflected from the sensor reflects off the host and back to the sensor, making it register too much. Edit: not that I'm interested, but where is the laser you're selling in your sig that points here?

    A challenge to code breakers

It's not a mono-alphabetic substitution cipher because the letter frequencies perfectly match to the English letter frequencies. It's a 26-letter alphabet and not 25-letter (as sometimes happens) because of the "Y" (4 occurrences) which would otherwise be a "Z" (the least occurring English...

    Bad Luck Laser

Well, oops. hehe. Bad Luck Link? The link was always in my sig too though.

    5mW limit too conservative?

If you hit a window, most of it is transmitted and your eye maybe gets 2mW. If you shine in a mirror, you might get the full load until your reflex kicks in. That would only happen if you're not using it responsibly and hold the laser still, because if you'd be swinging the laser around and...

editing typos after post marks it edited

Guys, You can stop. I call this thread dead. My question is answered and this won't get implemented for reasons stated in the other thread. I didn't mean to spark 2 pages of off-topic-ness.

    [UPDATE] V4 BlitzBuck, Available Soon!

that burn you see is the hole where the plastic smell and puff of smoke came from. When I put power on the input (with load), it doesn't draw any current (unlike other drivers I blew, which made short-circuit)

    Pin polarities

I don't know where you two learned electronics, but that stuff is dangerous to say. 1 is negative, 2 is case positive. 3 is the photo diode that no one I've ever heard of ever utilizes. There's even a chance you blew your diode as they are very sensitive to reverse biasing (above 4V).

    Bad Luck Laser

@Leodahsan the link is right in the first sentence. links don't automatically underscore for some reason. The peltier has it's own linear driver. And it's nowhere near 60W. @Pi×R² that's why I was changing batteries to something beefier. I have experience enough. I graphed dozens of PHR-803Ts...

    [UPDATE] V4 BlitzBuck, Available Soon!

Never mind. It seems it was just karma or something and not a bad driver per se. I could however still use a driver for whatever future projects I might have.

    Bad Luck Laser

It seems my semi-ghetto peltier-cooled handheld lab device has been nothing but bad luck. Bad luck lens (getting refunded because of optical aberrations) Bad luck switch Bad luck batteries (they discharge in 30 seconds and get quite warm, because I overloaded them 2.3 times over: 3.1A where...

    5mW limit too conservative?

Lower powered? 100mW? In the days of blu-ray diodes, 100mW was very high power, as ~50mW was more mainstream. I don't agree with people calling 100mW low power just because there's something 10 times as strong now. I'd call that super high power. (just short of 100W ultra high power lasers)

    [UPDATE] V4 BlitzBuck, Available Soon!

Edit: I don't need a board of the excact same type as replacement, just anything of the same price that can drive 445@1.7A from 11.1V (and isn't linear)

    [UPDATE] V4 BlitzBuck, Available Soon!

there's an old close-up in the last post of my thread (see sig) wait, i'll make new ones. how would you replace the IC? it's a difficult package.

    [UPDATE] V4 BlitzBuck, Available Soon!

I have a BlitzBuck 3.1 rectangular and I want to know what could have caused the IC to burn a hole in itself. I was replacing the battery pack with something heavier, and I took a few 18650s (11.1V). I soldered them on a connector for 9v batteries, so the polarity couldn't have been wrong. I...

    Best Burning Laser around 50$?

Don't forget to also get goggles within your budget. Especially when burning, where you focus the laser to the tiniest spot and move your head closer to the subject (for burning accuracy), you will get eye damage.

    Driver Using Radio Shack Board

I hooked up an inductor to my ohm meter and it displayed a negative value.

    Best Burning Laser around 50$?

I have a violet 166mW, and it's still not bright enough for stargazing. Besides, unless you are quite farsighted, distant violet beams and spots will be blurry, making it even less visible.

    Best Burning Laser around 50$?

In theory, 100mW violet burns as well as 100mW green or 100mw red. It all depends on the color of the surface you're pointing at. For example, a red match is harder to light with red because most light gets reflected. Skin is transparent for red and IR so you won't feel it, buy you'll feel...

editing typos after post marks it edited

Can there be a delay on when a post will be marked edited? When I post something, I often see typos, but when I edit even 1 character less than 10 seconds after posting, it still flags as edited. I've seen on other forums that there is a window of approx 2 minutes for editing, without your...
