Was looking at stuff on the Deal Extreme website and came across this notice. Be sure to order soon or be prepared to wait even longer if you are ordering anything from any company in China.
Wearing good eye protection, focus the dot to the smallest point possible on a white sheet of paper about 6 inches from the lens. That's the distance you should hold your target.
I've been doing a lot of experimenting with ambient lighting temperature settings so far to no avail. Shorter exposures tend to lessen the violet effect but they still persist. Next I'm going to try custom white balance settings. At least I don't have to wait for printing them all to see how...
Today a friend brought over an Opto 75mW pen and some AAA NiMH rechargeables (forget what brand) to see what the output power was with them. It was very erratic and had trouble even lasing. The fresh charge voltage was 1.3V. I'd say stick with Everready or Duracell Alkalines.
Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers W/COPPER HEATSINKS CHEAP $180
Don't let a missing battery stop you! Go to Walgreens and get a pair of 123 primaries and fire that bad puppy up! It will work fine with them.

Re: 1-1.2 Watt 445nm Host Ass'ys w/Driver and Heat Sink ONLY $50!!
I just wanted to share a photo of my finished Survival Lasers kit with a DTR A140 diode on the LPM.
Needless to say, I'm very happy!
Haha, I hadn't noticed the sticker over the other one. Good catch extremeodd. Just a little nitpick here, but the lanyard will barely fit over a small child's hand. Not useful for much unless you're going to hang it up to store it.
