Sigh, once again: the IR coming out of a cheap chinese laser doesnt magically shoot around and go directly in your eye. As long as you aren't being an idiot with your laser (I.e. shining it in mirrors or in your eye) you will be fine.

The 3 emitter model is a separate diode. Apparently it isn't in production yet, so idk if they are just samples or what.

See bens post right above yours...Logsquared has a valid point, but the p73's are also meant for pulsed operation ;) I think static discharge from the plastic bag it was packaged in is to blame.

I don't think any testing has been done on this particular diode, because it hasn't really been for sale anywhere that people have bought it.

Oh, thats you? Why are you auctioning off uour diode? Seriously, do __not__ put diodes in plastic bags or any containers that arent explicitly labeled as "antistatic." Have you tested that diode, or are you just assuming it works?

Apparently they come from some sort of scanner. Past that no one apparently knows enough to tell me what they actually come from. I assume some sort of industrial bar code scanner, but 2W seems a bit extensive! edit: look at this. What kinda idiot puts a diode in a plastic bag?! I hope no one...

Have you considered epoxying your lasers together? There is a reason all notable sellers (laserBTB, CNI, WL) use a liberal amount of epoxy to hold everything together- harder for people to mess with then claim broken goods for a refund.

Yea...which could work, but that's one anemic little piece of wire!

Blech....functional, maybe- but if you are going to use a host like that (which isn't cheap), you should hold yourself to higher build standards :(
