    Lazerer's latest lasers

When things are too good to be true.. they usually aren't true. Though I call them 'chinese milliwatts'. Because well, they're apparently smaller than normal milliwatts. :D And LPM's used to be scarce, but there are a few 'relatively cheap' hobbyist grade ones available now.

    Lazerer's latest lasers

Light emitted. Like I said, the're measured on a Laser Power Meter.

    Lazerer's latest lasers

They aren't calculated. They're measured on a LPM.

21 year old arrested for hitting an aircraft with a laser

You need to take your own advice here buddy. Shining ANY laser into 'airspace' requires written notice to be provided to the FAA prior to any event. And also, 'public demonstrations' of class 3b and up lasers REQUIRES a variance from the FDA.. ANY use where anyone OTHER than yourself can be...

    B&W Tek BWB-10-OEM 473nm Help!

I should note that the IR filter should NOT be removed unless you replace it with another and seal it completely. Getting rid of it makes these no longer sealed. LBO is hygroscopic. If you leave the head in this condition, you'll be wondering why it slowly looses output over months until it...

    50mw violet

Pretty much all the '5mW' newwish pens run anywhere from 40-80mW. If they set them at 5mW, no one would buy them since the output would be next to invisible.

    Diode identification.

The other night, I was going through my 'laser junk box' trying to scrounge up some parts to finish some MXDL builds for Aryntha and I came across a 405nm diode pressed in an aixiz module. As a quick and dirty test to see if it worked I soldered it to the driver out of one of the cheap ebay...

21 year old arrested for hitting an aircraft with a laser

My dog is odd when it comes to lasers. As a puppy 'chasing the spot' of a 5mW red was a favorite game. Now days some times she'll ignore it, sometimes she'll go after it, and sometimes she'll just go hide in another room and peer at me around the corner until I put it up. But then again i've...

    200 mw green modules

You generally only get at most 150-160mW of actual green out of even 'good' 200mW modules. As far as putting them in tight spaces.. Well it's possible.. Just requires some creativity on both battery selection, and module modification.

    hey santa

Plus Ion lasers in general are slowly moving towards purely being 'collectors items'. They've been replaced with diode and solid state lasers for the vast majority of their past uses. Large frame ion lasers are especially hard sells because few people can meet the power requirements to run them.

Hit in eye with 1000mw 445nm blue laser

I'm sure it's probably not just specifically lasers. I'm sure most doctors have to report a lot of different things to different regulatory agencies.

    batman projector? even possible?

It's neither hard nor impossible to do given a projector with sufficient power. However, it's viewing angle will be extremely limited. More than 10 degrees off axis or so, people will just see a glow in the clouds if they notice anything at all. (most people don't look up) However having a...

Well where do you think their eye injury rate data comes from?

    Ultrafire U-501B Host

The hard part of doing >150mW green builds is finding the actual components for it. Nobody sells 'green modules' that will do more than that. About the only way I know to get over 150mW reliably would be either buy a module from CNI (EXPENSIVE) or order one of the 400mW lasers from o-like or...

Hit in eye with 1000mw 445nm blue laser

Doctors are required to report laser related eye injuries to the CDRH, which was the reason he wanted to see the laser. Congratulations. Your now a statistic. heh

    PA also known as PAS

I want to see Aryntha's collection all laid out. But I bet he doesn't have a room big enough in his house to do that. heh. Mine took up a lot of room too about a decade ago when all I pretty much had was argon-ions, and about a dozen of those at that. But most of them have been sold off over...

    batman projector? even possible?

You also have to remember that 1.6W isn't much when it's not in a tight collimated beam. To put it in perspective. Imagine if it was spread out in a 360 degree sphere like a normal light bulb.. A 1.6W light bulb wouldn't be very bright now, would it?
  19. qumefox

    batman projector? even possible?

Well if you did manage to get something bright enough, on clouds, You would be able to see it.. But that's about it. People off axis would only see a glow in the clouds. You have to remember. A cloud isn't solid like a projection screen. Most movie effects aren't possible in reality.

    PHR-803T laser COMPLETE :D

PHR's top out at around 120mA. If you drive them past that, they go poof. The fact that yours is still alive means your below that. 100-110mW with a good lens is about all you'll get out of one. They're good 'first builds' since they're dirt cheap, however if you want to 'burn', you'll...
