    Anyone here grind lenses

Well we all know these big diodes have astigmatism. Can anyone grind a singl lens to correct for it? More cylidrical for the fast axis and less on the slow? I never seen anyone attempt this. Im sure each different diode will require a different setup for the grinder just like an optimologist...

Is an X-Ray emitting laser pointer possible?

Oh my. After reading this thread...I propose we have a Darwin Awards show at the end of the year. No way woyld I want to be exposed to Xrays or allow my kuds, if i had them, fool around with Xray equiptment. The idea of a porrtable xray machine is one thing, but to point the xrays at anything...

    Sanwu 7W silver

I just got a letter suggesting their batteries. He suspects the tail device might not be working right. It was made for a five watt laser to begin with. So Sanwu is sending me the correct componants to put into the tail section along with the new batteries I ordered. Anyway the weird thing is...

    Sanwu 7W silver

Just got my mudule in. I had a 5 watt silver. I sent for the 7 watt module. When I examined it, it lookes like it is open canned to let more laser out and more heat syncing. They sent back a G lens as a bonus. I just installed the batteries...half dead. This thing has a kick like a mule!!. It...

    Sanwu 1.6W 405nm?

I tried that with mixed results. I combined two 750 mw. It was iffy at best. Some loss becaus the beams were oval shaped and when i crossed them, there seemed to be a 25 percent total loss from the sum of the two.

    question about blue lasers

I consider the 405 nm purple, the 445nm a deep indigo blue. The 445 looks purple because of the camera viewing it. This also holds true for infrared lasers, they show up as deep purple even though they appear faint red to the human eye.

    sanwu spiker issues..........

If it doesnt smell burnt, pergaps the battery isn't making contact with the module fully. I have put a neodinium magnet on the end of the battery in my silver to make better contact. Somtimes the module undscrews forward when adjusting the focus and you lose contact between it and the batteries...

    Sanwu 7W silver

Watch the runtime on these. I burned up my 5 watt silver running it too long while engraving with it. It woyld be nice to have a momentary button near the head. Yes it will engrave a rock. Since I did order a new module, i upped it for the 7 watt for the same host. I did have a syfy laser that...
