I can't remove the pill from host

I didn't even do anything to fix the spring. I just tried to unscrew the pill/heatsink, failed, put it back, and turned it on. It suddenly worked, even though I didn't do anything to fix it... It's really really weird.

I can't remove the pill from host

Thanks for all of your advice/warnings against glue... Jayrob didn't use any glue by the way. The only part I used glue on was the bond between the pill and the heatsink because I was having trouble getting the two soldered together and it seemed like a good idea at the time. Before I glued the...

I can't remove the pill from host

@Silvershot That's a really good possible explanation. It would also explain why it works now when I push the two halves together. Maybe when pushing them together tight, the spring can then make contact. I still have to figure out how to unscrew this. I'm hoping I won't have to do anything...

I can't remove the pill from host

Haha that made my day a little better. My soldering iron died (RIP POS Radioshack soldering iron :cryyy:) and all I had to do was solder the heatsink to the pill... I was impatient... :D Oh, but great news! I managed to get the laser to work by pushing the bottom half of the host to the top half...

I can't remove the pill from host

Hey everyone, I'm back with more problems. ;) I put together a Jayrob SS CR2 build today, and started it up. Ooh pretty colors. After a few minutes of burning stuff, it suddenly turned off (I'm praying it didn't die...). I tried switching batteries, and that didn't help. I started unscrewing the...

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear Where did you find this out? I've been wondering this for quite some time. Do you know the OD at 445nm? Even if it's only 2 or 3, I'd still want to get them so I only have to carry around 1 pair for all of my lasers.

    Invisible Mouse (uses IR Laser)

Kipkay to the rescue! You just take an IR diode you can buy WAY overpriced at laserdiy.com and wire it directly to the Wiimote battery pack. Shine it on the table and you have an invisible mouse!

I've noticed that. Basically everyone on this forum lives in either Ohio or California. There are a few people in Texas and NY.

I'm not really surprised at these numbers. Every time a new diode comes out, we are able to push it farther as a percentage than what it was rated for. For PHRs, you basically have to give it the rated current. For 8x blu-ray diodes you can give it like 120% of the rated current. For 12x blu-ray...

Safe too view the dot of lasers?

Even a 50mW green gives me a headache after a couple hours of looking at it. Green probably isn't as bad as some other wavelengths because at least you realize how bright it is. You could be killing your eyes with a blu-ray or IR and not even know it. If you got one of the new (incredibly...

What would happen if I set a Flexdrive to its max of 1.5A and run it? Would it have a really unstable output, as Exerd said, or would it die? Also, I thought these diodes needed like 5V input. I was thinking about using a 18650, but that would only give 3.7V to the diode with these AMC7135...

Safe too view the dot of lasers?

I know a few people here have been at least partially blinded by lasers in general, but I'm not sure how each person was blinded. I saw a thread somewhere on these forums a while back where someone actually figured out a formula for the safe viewing distance of a dot of various laser powers...

The search bar is your friend! I searched "dot" for you, and the second result is this: http://laserpointerforums.com/f53/looking-laser-dot-42816.html

I'm definitely no expert with electronics, but that's what I was planning to do with the 1400mA version. If your budget allows for it, something like Dr. Lava's Flexdrive or the MicroBoost drive would probably be better.

Buy/Sell/Trade Board -- Mostly Laser Related or Not?

IMO, the system we have right now works pretty well. It is probably best to try to keep the number of threads in each category more or less equal. If we had a category for each wavelength, then there would probably be an artificially high interest for less discussed wavelengths such as true...

just ignore this made a mistake and posted it twice sorry. God bless.

Re: Can you use gel paper that you use in band to make laser goggles The Dragon Lasers glasses are about 100 to 1000 times better than the O-like ones. Both of those are way better than nothing though. I reviewed them here.

@Xplorer877 I was going to use it for a portable host, but I might look into heatsinking options for it. @Roddenberry Haha I think if we did a group buy on those, it would cost half as much to just get 1 for each person because of shipping. :) @Exerd That's what I was thinking. Also, $50 is...
