    Fighting Racism (explicit)

They didn't know about autosomal info back then though...they thought it was all junk DNA, etc. Now a days, there's a ton of additional info about what expresses, and when, etc...and that adds a massive variation in overall differences. ~ 70% of a fruit fly's genome is also found in humans for...

    Adding new ways to blind

Well, you can't fix everything...its overwhelming. You can though, much as they might arrest you for being with in arms reach of the drugs or guns, try to make that same range a nicer place. You can't control what other's might do in that space, set a good example, worry about yourself....and...

    Adding new ways to blind

I look at it differently. Sure, you can't fix stupid, but you also can't hold yourself responsible for other's stupidity either....its like blaming yourself for it raining, etc. It rains sometimes. To be happy, you have to let yourself. We are all naturally happy...and its typically external...

Bonehead resentenced--5 years for pointing laser @ plane

Alan, you have a good point. Things, historically, have always been like this...if not worse. Sure, there are bad things, and, there are good things. If you read the journals and notes etc from as far back as recorded history goes, humans have ALWAYS said that the pace of life is more hectic...

    Adding new ways to blind

To be fair, I loved lawn darts. We used garbage can lids (Back when they were metal) as shields, and threw them at each other. (Underhand lobs only....safety first)

LOL Its pretty for a failure. :D

    save the magnet spheres!

Its as though they use a filter, and anything small enough to pass through the filter is banned because little johnny might swallow it. Bleach and drain cleaner for some reason is not banned.

Nice! Was this part of a larger project?

Has NASA's Kepler space telescope discovered an Alien Megastructure?

LOL Unfortunately, the post where I said exactly what you are saying was deleted. In a nut shell, yes, finding life on another planet would be the same, from a "belief viewpoint", the same as finding a new species on earth...and that finding, or not finding life on other planets doesn't change...

SOLD: Power metered 200mw 301 lasers

It arrived UN-damaged, and, it working order :san: Thanks! Yeah if its a 5v max, then one cell is all it needs. You had mentioned 18650, and two 18350 are the same LENGTH and DIAMETER as one protected 18650, so, while it WOULD fit, the voltage would be closer to 7-8 v than to a max of 5...

SOLD: Power metered 200mw 301 lasers

Just confirming my 660 nm 200+ mw arrived in visibly undamaged condition. Just awaiting confirmation of 18650 use (Known) vs two 18350 or two 16340's as an option. :D Got that the cells go head first and it HAS reverse polarity protection.

I donated $5 for October IIRC.

Has NASA's Kepler space telescope discovered an Alien Megastructure?

Cool. I hope it's alien. Of course, it could simply be an orbiting fragment from a collision that has not yet become round, etc... ...and, as its ~ 1,500 light years away, we are seeing what it looked like ~ 1,500 years ago. The entire concept of other life forms out there somewhere...

Hello, looking for a good cheap flashlight.

OK, but, how far away do you want to be able to see what at? Telling us that established the minimum cd of the light...so we need it. :D How LONG do you need it to shine at that output? Telling us that tells us your power reserve and regulation minimums, so we need to know that too. :D

    Multi Mode vs. Single Mode

Flat black balloons would be the easiest "color" to pop, regardless of the wavelength of the laser. A laser that has to be FOCUSED to the range intended to burn at, such as the 445 nm, is at a distinct disadvantage when the range to burn at changes w/o the laser being re-focused to the new...

Any of you using laser for OTHER than entertainment or experimenting?

I think from the thread context, he's looking for engineering applications he could consider, rather than disparaging hobby uses. :D

Hello, looking for a good cheap flashlight.

I suppose a lot depends on what you mean by "good". Lumens are ONE measure of a light's output, but, for the cheap ones, they almost always lie, dramatically, about the lumens...so you really don't get what they advertise, ever. The size of the light is a factor as well. For example, its...
