Yes. You can drill 2 small holes across from each other (9 o'clock & 3 o'clock) down into that white plastic/nylon piece in your 1st pic. Dont drill too deep, just enough to create a couple of holes that you can use needle nose pliers to squeeze & untwist that part counterclockwise to pull it...
