I would just give it some water, turn it on, and see if it starts. If not, then you may need some jumpers, but generally on the big lasers you dont need any. My 168 requires an interlock but it is literally a two-pin plug that says "interlock".... pretty easy to figure out! hehe. CAn you see...

can you post pictures of any connectors that are currently left unoccupied after the laser in plugged in? Usually with these systems, a remote interface isn't necessary like it is with the smaller ones, since these often run as standalone units rather than being installed in DNA sequencers like...

I would bet that it is a different diode. If they could have done 12x 6 months ago when the 8x drives were out, they would have done it and beat everyone else to the chase. It just doesn't make much sense, from a manufacturing standpoint, to make a whole new sled for 12x. Pop a stronger diode...

I have two 35W HID bulbs in my car, and I can tell you that it is brighter than anything on the road. I cant even imagine one of those bulbs in a flashlight...

I run my big 3-phase argon for about 4 hours at a time... I would say if you dont have time to run it for at LEAST an hour, dont even bother turning it on :D For some reason the electrical costs dont bother me. For some reason it's the thought of the hose on full blast for 4 hours that I hate...

I bet its a high power Kr laser. Theres no way they would allow fog or anything like that in the clean optics room to make the beam more visible, and the exposure doens't look super long on the picture. Maybe a few watts of Kr red :evil:
