Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits pens

Ok, PMs sent! doing a couple shipments tonight. Also, drivers are running a little low for the next month or so.

    6x / flexdrive wiring question

I haven't seen a 12x current/voltage chart yet, but you are right it won't run at 412mA IF the diode voltage is over 6V. In that case you'll need to set the current at a point there the diode voltage is just under 6V. (or wait for the LavaBoost)

    6x / flexdrive wiring question

yes, no problem there, as long as the battery can handle it :)

    12x Murder Fund! + Graph!

Re: 12x Murder Fund! (Complete!) There is a lot of discussion here on what current to test the diodes at, but can I make a suggestion: test the diode at a range of currents. This is the test that I am carrying out right now (should be completed tonight) for a PHR diode for starters. Basically...

    Sonar Build

I still use mine as my primary blu-ray. Great hosts, too bad they discontinued them. When 12x comes around it will be prime for that diode :)

How to get your pointer destroyed: use it dangerously in a club.

Just saw this over at PL. Here is what 100+mW to the eye looks like to me - Photonlexicon The kid was fortunate with the outcome, IMO let this be a warning!

Testing Output Voltage of a Flexdrive

It could be that the FlexDrive has gotten damaged. Although it's very unlikely that it would not be able to boost AND somehow without boosting damaged your diode. You can mail it to me and I'll check it out for you.

Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits pens

You set the current on the driver and it takes care of the Voltage automatically :) processing orders tonight...

Why are we using test loads on linear drivers?

Do you have something against diodes? :) You could use a 15 ohm 3W resistor for blu ray 8.2 Ohm 2W for red

Solar cell + Arduino + Audio triggered strobe + laser + long exposure

You are correct the strobe could be triggered from a comparator without the processor. The processor is basically operating as a complicated comparator in this case. Delays could be done with R-C lowpass filters, too but hey as long as it's working that's better than just talk :) Most cameras...

Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits pens

Ok, I've got the transaction. For some reason it was flagged a while ago due to a preset current question and then just got buried in the list. I'll send a bonus for the trouble, sorry about that. thanks!

Why are we using test loads on linear drivers?

heheh that's a good reason, too.

Why are we using test loads on linear drivers?

the answer: The 400mA range may use an ohm or two, the 10A range usually uses under 1/2 ohm sense resistor.

Why are we using test loads on linear drivers?

I haven't seen your method, but the closer the load is to the actual diode voltage, the more precise the measurement will be, even if the worst case error is only a percent. Additional error creeps in because the 1 ohm resistor commonly used is not a precision resistor. If you have a...

Why are we using test loads on linear drivers?

Just saw this thread, is seems there is some confusion on this issue, even in life-members here :) It's a good question Hallucynogenic, you are right to ask. In fact, in an ideal world you COULD set the current on a DDL/rkcstr driver simply with a multimeter in amps mode in place of the diode...

Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits pens

Hi, you would do a lot better if you PMed me the payment ID number so I can look it up. There has been no payment from forum ID '33846' in my records.

My warning label generator... yeah, I was bored.

Hey I like it! one thing though the text changes depending on the class, see the yellow labels: Laser safety - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia example: class 4 you must avoid direct or indirect exposure.

    Help with drivers.

yes, it will work for this purpose, I did this with a s-KY green laser myself. You will need to isolate the green laser body electrically from your optical baseplate, because you are getting away from battery operation there are a few more considerations with respect to circuit ground path.
