    visible laser distance 532-650-405nm

Red beams seem thinner and sharper to me, but they may be just because they are not as dazzling. I actually prefer them sometimes since they attract less attention from neighbours. 405 is a strange one. It is not particularly visible because our eyes are operating right at the limit. Also, most...

    High power 635 ?

I own a lovely custom built 658 nm stingray built by Milos and outputting 270mw. However, I am now in the market for a reasonably priced high power (200+) 635nm. Preferably focusable. Pen or torch style (don't mind which). Can anybody point me in the right direction? Either to one of the...

beam brightness 200mw vs 600mw green

I have a Dragon Viper 125mw which outputs 150-175mw on a new battery and an under-spec DX Firepoint 500mw which fluctuates between 380 and 450mw. The Viper has a very tight beam compared to the Firepoint. Visually, the two look fairly similar in terms of brightness per unit area, but the...

    Deal Extreme 500mw "Firepoint" green

Ok just did a five minute run. See below. It peaks early at 460 and then falls off to 380-420 with various wobbles. I think it is best regarded as a 400mw unit. David

    Deal Extreme 500mw "Firepoint" green

The rayfoss 500mw IR filtered @ US$ 600 certainly looks like the same unit as does the <500 mw at US$ 540. The "military style 650 mw" is a different unit - fantastic value if it is all green - but no mention of an IR filter so I suspect not. Might be worth asking though. 650mw of pure green at...

    Deal Extreme 500mw "Firepoint" green

Hi Jerry Yes I was able to graph the output but couldn't figure out how to save the graphed output so I just put the text into excel, made a graph that way and then saved the resulting graph to a jpeg. Personally I think using "<" is no better. It is a meaningless figure since anything > zero...

    Deal Extreme 500mw "Firepoint" green

See DealExtreme: $599.00 FirePoint Green Laser Pointer Complete Kit (500mW) * EMS Express I bought this laser from DX earlier this year but have only just got round to reviewing it. The price is US$ 599 (inc. shipping) which includes various bits and pieces: batteries, charger, goggles...

    Any1 successfully combine 405nm with 532nm?

I can also see an annular effect - an outer ring of 405 with an inner disc of cyan. Gorgeous but only visible with glasses off!

    Any1 successfully combine 405nm with 532nm?

A quick and dirty with 125mw of 405 and 5mw of 532 gives a lovely cyan. Interestingly, the colour is much more easily seen by those who are short-sighted (myopic). With my glasses on and everything sharp, it is very hard to perceive the effect. But with glasses off and everything defocused, it...

    How do I post pics?

I'll be putting up a review shortly of the DX 500mw green "firepoint" unit, but I can't figure out how to post pictures. What's the secret? Thanks David

Below spec 500 mw - will changing battery help?

Thanks. Are ultrafire generally regarded as good batteries?

Below spec 500 mw - will changing battery help?

Thanks. Makes sense. But I guess the supplied battery could still be a dud so I'll order a couple of ultrafires and let you know if it makes any difference. I've found that with my other lasers, you only get full power if the battery is in tip-top condition. Any drop in voltage and the power...

Below spec 500 mw - will changing battery help?

To be fair to DX, I've bought three lasers off them and all did what was on the label. I'll post a full report on the laser once I've got a replacement battery, but a quick check shows a sharp edged 4.5mm slightly oval beam spot, expanding to a more diffuse 13mm spot at 6 metres - giving...

Below spec 500 mw - will changing battery help?

What I actually need is new glasses. I thought you wrote "cheapo" ;-) Any thoughts on the battery issue?

Below spec 500 mw - will changing battery help?

Yes I see, though it is identical to the CNI which is a bit odd. But I don't follow why I be happy to pay for a 500mw and get a 400mw. If I had wanted 400mw then that is what I would have bought!

Below spec 500 mw - will changing battery help?

Just tested it again - max 438 and then drops to ~ 400. Some of this will be IR so true green will be less still ;-(
