    My first PHR build.

It sure is...I was very excited, and my wife was actually impressed with this one too. It didn't hurt that purple is her favorite color either. -Brett

    My first PHR build.

405nm photography is damn difficult! the conditions outside are perfect (super foggy with drizzle) and the beam is visible for over 100 feet, but I just can't seem to get a picture of the blu-ray beam that comes even close to representing the brilliance of what the naked eye sees. It's like the...

    My first PHR build.

Well, I put together a 405nm labby with a diode I bought a while ago off of ebay. I paid a bit too much for this diode (before I had the "brilliant" idea to check the group buys) so I am quite glad I didn't kill this one with heat, too much current (yet..heheh), or by shearing off the pins. This...

    Red 10-30Mw

Yes, natural selection endowed our vision with a greater sensitivity in the 532nm region than in the 650nm...but don't let that fool you...a 200mw red is powerful, and potentially hazardous in the hands of the inexperienced (or those who haven't bothered to learn the particulars of the EM...

    New 400mw Handheld Green Laser

According to the link for the module in Suzie's store it's a 2W pump: http://www.o-like.com/b2b_cpinfo.asp?id=912 ...however, I don't know what package type it is. That's the first thing I was wondering too. -Brett

    Red 10-30Mw

Fotons, I would suggest learning to build one. Get a diode from a DVD burner, one of the Group Buys on here, or off of ebay. Then an LM317 driver is easy to build. There's a nice tutorial about this by DDL (Daedal). Or, if you want to get going even faster, and learn to build drivers...

A quick and dirty enclosure for my Aixiz 5v labby

Re: A quick and dirty enclosure for my Aixiz 5v la Here's one last beam shot.  The nice thing about this project is that it only took me about an hour to and hour and a half to complete last night and now I have a labby which doesn't have to inconveniently sprawl out all over the place.   My...

A quick and dirty enclosure for my Aixiz 5v labby

Re: A quick and dirty enclosure for my Aixiz 5v la Here's a beam shot which also shows the back of the device. The markings are coincidental...although the "IN" right above the power connector worked out in my favor, however, the 9v 40ma marking over the switch is incorrect and irrelevant.

A quick and dirty enclosure for my Aixiz 5v labby

Re: A quick and dirty enclosure for my Aixiz 5v la Here was the initial test...everything working great, toggle switch is on in the down position.

A quick and dirty enclosure for my Aixiz 5v labby

Re: A quick and dirty enclosure for my Aixiz 5v la At this point, I had hot glued the 5vdc driver board and the heat sink in...here it is important to note that I placed an additional 2nd strip of perfboard under the module to provide insulation from the anodized aluminum case. I felt this was...

A quick and dirty enclosure for my Aixiz 5v labby

I had been using my 15mw Aixiz labby (it's outputting quite a bit more than that I am quite sure...just how much I won't know until my Laserbee gets here) with various setups that I had just basically rigged up, making the whole thing precarious and fragile.  Finally, I decided to use this...

    Meredith out of modules??

I am sure there is probably a recent thread about this (and I just didn't get the memo)....if so, someone please clue me in. Anyway... Does anyone know where the Meredith glass modules went? I went on both their ebay store and their web site and searched, plus I searched on ebay to see if...

    50mw green laser came today!

Hello.  The way I test my lasers for IR is by shining them through a piece of red translucent plastic.  The piece of red plastic I have blocks 100% of all 532nm (green) light.  Then I observe the output through a SONY digital handicam on its 0 lux "Nightshot" mode.  Any IR (if present) is...

    X-100 vs X-125

I am seriously pondering this same (or very similar) question that coherent finds himself considering.  I think I may go for the Alpha rather than the X series with mine though, simply because of the larger size, leading to better heat sinking...resulting in longer duty cycle/on times.  However...
