Switching regulator that regulates current instead of voltage?

Maybe searching for buck / boost LED drivers IC's may give you some results? You just need to scope the output and check if theres smooth turn on, hows regulation (current out error in %). I didn't build any switch mode drivers, but I've always wanted to. Subscribing to thread ;)

405nm 120mW Violet XBOX Laser by Kalmito

Ok, just beware that this driver, when going hot (>40ºc) the current goes UP. Your laser may go stronger and stronger and eventually burn out or have his life expectancy reduced. I set mine to 115mA by the way, and after a long operation (no heatsink, concealed) it measured around 128mA...

405nm 120mW Violet XBOX Laser by Kalmito

Thanks for the info. No problem about the english, its fine ;) Do you know what current you set the driver? It should give you some ballpark of power output.

It would be so amazing to have a wall painted with this: Damnit they don't sell to BR. :cryyy: Link

405nm 120mW Violet XBOX Laser by Kalmito

I bought some things from techhood too. In my opinion, he should have an account on LPF. He is a great seller, and is my source of some laser parts now... ;) I bought my first violet from O-like though (phr-803T). Can you answer a couple questions, Kalmito? ;) You measured the power out or you...

    Tips and Advice on Soldering

get one of this, and beware with coffee. It gives me jitters, especially with 1/2 gallon a day! ;) Check your soldering iron temperature when soldering sensitive components/small boards (like diodes and drivers). Don't forget that a big solder blob will maintain high temperatures for more time...

    Think about this...

I don't really know if quartz would effectively be transparent to wavelengths emitted by a chemical laser. Thermal shock would be the smallest of your problems while dealing with plasma forming lasers and thunderbolt generating machines. To ionize air around a beam, you need so many power ^ cm²...

    Think about this...

Maybe a quartz window? Its an insulator. The laser, being powerful enough, would ionize the air, and that would be your (cold) plasma. You answered yourself on the first paragraph. Think power density. Diode? Electrical currents? :tsk: At those power levels, you're looking for a chemical laser.

CNC laser engraver - its almost time

Re: CNC laser engraver - project approved Old post Hey all. After some time away (flooding as many should know) recovering from damage and etc, I finally kickstarted this project. Related to the previous post: Someone else will build a CNC this year, so they chose to help those guys instead...

    Pros/Cons of Common wavelengths

Never. 405nm is a visible spectrum, non-ionizing radiation. So, no skin cancer. :tsk: edit: @Tha Greenlander I'e read somewhere that >650nm can drain power from glow in the dark materials, instead of ionizing them. Actually, I've tested that with a 650nm laser... Inconsistent results though...

    Think about this...

Yeah it could already be made, but the power levels are so high (I read somewhere that a pulsed UV laser would be up to the task... but nowhere on the miliwatt range ;)), and its quite a dangerous project, that I'm doubtful that it will be "available" soon.. Someone here have played "Infamous"...

    Think about this...

Plasma can conduct electricity right? One with such a laser could combine it with a lightning generator and direct a thunderbolt somewhere. Maybe its not home feasible though. Electrolaser - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you can solder fast enough, you can make Tcurie (temperature that the materials lose their magnetic property) higher, by putting some metal around the magnet while soldering. I had a link for that..... edit: http://myip.cctec.cornell.edu/index.cfm/ts.details?tk=K4AB2317153854938841

Ei bro! Ainda hoje lembrei que você me pediu isso antes. Mas como você deve ter visto, as condições não são favoráveis para eu encontrar as lentes hoje. Daqui uns dias eu acho e te digo. Só pra confirmar, lentes pra DPSS, certo? Se quiser pode mandar pm.

OMG!! terrible news= PLEASE read this and do whatever you can..

@Tmack Yeah, thanks. Watching everything we saw, from the "inside" point-of-view, really helped us mature a little bit, and know how to proceed on a flooding (that never happened before btw). Receiving so much help (from LPF members and neighboors here) is so inspiring that I had to help people...

OMG!! terrible news= PLEASE read this and do whatever you can..

Things are back to normal (well, almost). Father got some things from his friends (radioham community, so friendly ppl, just like LPF), and I got the donation money some days ago (BR banks work so slow... specially for international transations). But everything is alright now. If I have free...

Green laser power drop after a drop

Beware with the IR light coming out from the diode. Here you can have some info about DPSS, in case the manufacturer don't want to refund you... Here The first pic (from Sam's LSRFAQ) makes me think that proper rotation is needed for the power to increase...

@Atomicrox Thanks bro... Things are getting better, slowly @All Can't thank people enough for the donations and help. Sorry all I can't answer to threads, my computer is stored already because my room is being used as a "storage" for our things that were saved from the water... Things are...

Drinking water is bought (mineral water, bottled). Some BR aren't so kind as the LPF members. I'm not used to receive donations etc... I can only thank all who donated. We will buy some furniture for mom and we will withdraw the money for that. I'll take some pics Thanks again for all who...
