last of the aquarium pics 2/8/18

Thanks guys! There is a big difference between 1650 and 1675. For 1650, the camera was in front of the fish tank looking towards the lasers. For 1675 the camera was propped up behind the fish tank looking away from the lasers and towards the dots. In 1650 the straight line pattern of dots...

last of the aquarium pics 2/8/18

These pics are a combination of my third and fourth attempt to photograph my 5 gallon aquarium using multiple lasers and glass submerged in the water. They were taken about a month ago and here are a few of the better ones. By this time the water has been in the tank for a few weeks and got...

    Space Discussion Thread

Hey Paul, I too miss the broadcasts of the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions. Network TV used to interrupt shows to show it. And watching Walter Cronkite explain everything was a big part of it too. Another favorite part of watching the broadcasts was the simulations they would show us to...

Thanks everyone for the nice words. Bowtieguy - I do not think my company will use these pics for commercial purposes. I think they may use them to show how bright the fluorescence is. They are supposed last two years of outdoor use before losing their brilliance. I am going to bring home a...

    some new pics 2/4/18

For these pics I had four stands, each consisting of four lasers of the same color (like my last post) but positioned the stands then in a square with the beams of each stand pointing in a different direction. I put a small mirror on each stand and had the beams reflect off the mirror at the...

Hi Paul, I still have the original Rokkor 50mm f1.4 lens from that camera. I upgraded to a Minolta XG-7 "automatic" camera in 1979. That was the second generation of Minolta cameras that could figure out the exposure and show you that in the viewfinder with LEDs. Cool stuff in 1979! That one I...

Thanks! Encap - My favorite photography subject has always been NYC architecture. I have thousands of really nice pics of everything NYC. When I graduated high school way back when my gift from my parents was a Minolta SRT-102 35mm camera and I haven't stopped.

I was in LA last week for work and managed to get out one night to try to photograph some of the architecture. Shown here are The Broad Museum, Walt Disney Concert Hall, City Hall, and the Peterson Car Museum. Don't see too much architecture like this around NYC. Here are also some aerial photos...

Where do we get batteries these days?

A few years ago someone on the forum let us all know Walmart was selling 18650s. I have been buying them from Walmart since then, but are now discontinued in the stores area me. I recently ordered a 505nm from Sanu so I also ordered a bunch of 18650s from them to have. For 16340s I get them thru...

Thanks for the kind words cyberdoc! I have gotten pretty efficient at doing this. The worst part is sometimes I will get them all turned on and realize one beam is not aligned with the others, or the worse, getting all of the lasers on and then the one laser dims due to batteries and I have to...

Hi Paul, I have had a 589 die but ultimate Kaiser repaired it for me last year and it still works and is in these pics. The one looking into my basement is a test shot but still looks nice.

    some new pics 1/26/18

Thanks everyone! Bowtieguy - What I do to minimize the time the lasers are on is first, compose the photo and do the manual focusings using white light and take a test shot or two. Once I am happy with that I will use (usually) a green laser or two to make sure the lasers are composed the way...

    some new pics 1/26/18

For these pics I first set up a square of 16 lasers, four of the same color on each side. I added a mirror for each color and soon realized that the "square" set up would not work the way I had visualized and set the lasers up in 4 vertical rows, each row with four of the same color. This is...
