    Awesome NEW battery hack!

ROTFL! That's the funniest thing I've seen all day! Great find Pseudo ;D ;D

Possibly a GREAT 1/2 AA Sized Battery!

Good find, just don't try to recharge it. ;) KaBoom

    DIY Homemade laser diode driver

Testing a LM317 based constant current source without a load is meaningless. Can you please post in the 'Help & Repairs' board a picture of your circuit, showing all connections? I'll meet you there.

Wattage required to destroy a cctv camera?

I've found that a CMOS sensor has a slightly lower damage threshold than does a CCD. YMMV

Need help with learning to solder.

I've had really bad luck with RadioShack soldering iron tips. It seems like after just a hundred joints or so tey rot right off the iron. But I suppose if it's working well for you, I must have just picked up some bad tips. :(

Am I okay with Driver readings as follows:

I think either you've got the Adj and Vout pins mixed up, or the voltage drop of the load you're trying to use is too high. ;) Use either 5-10 Green LEDs in parallel, or even better use four 1N4001 and one 1 Ohm resistor all in series as a dummy load. In order for your test to mean anything...

Am I okay with Driver readings as follows:

If I'm understanding you, then the answer is 'yes'. Measure the voltage across the load. What is your input voltage?

Anyone heard How Senkat's (Greg's) surgery went?

Re: Anyone heard How Senkat's (Greg's) surgery wen Glad to have you back and in one piece Greg! Take your time and heal up! LPF needs our SenKat back at 100%! :)

Can you take a picture? Sorry, I'm not understanding.

Need help with learning to solder.

Check my post here to kit up. Also check this link. Most important it ALWAYS use fresh electronics flux. I don't care if it's rosin core solder or not, use flux every time. Hope these help. :)

    Need help understanding the LM317

amk, there's no need to be an ass about it. The LM317 DOES regulate voltage. Set up as a current regulator, it raises the voltage to the load until it reached the preset current. This is why only one LM317 is required.

    Help

All of them. Sorry, I know it's a lot to read through when you're wanting to build a laser, but you'll be much happier if you read throught first.

Am I okay with Driver readings as follows:

Correct, but can you check the voltage drop across the load? If it's less than ~2.8V then when you put the laser diode on it it will drop out.

    Newbie want advice :)

This question has been asked and answered several times already. Be sure to look further back then just the last week when searching and you'll have much better luck. To answer your question, have a look at my post here. And welcome to the best forum ever! (even if we do have some computer...

    DIY Homemade laser diode driver

As you increase the resistance of the potentiometer, less current is needed to maintain the 1.25V drop across the sense resistor. Ohm's Law. I'd suggest you read through the entire thread. I know it's a long one, and there's a lot of repeated information in it, but there's gold buried in there.

I posted about that somewhere around here...

Asking for a simple laser making guide

First off, you aren't a bother at all. The best way to learn is to ask a LOT of questions. And provided someone searches a bit before plastering the forum with questions that have been answered before, no one will be upset. I'm sorry if I sounded annoyed, I mostly make very terse posts and I...

    ALL FORUM MEMBERS BEWARE

I would add that you should either take it to the bank manager personally, or wait 14 days after your deposit. I say this because I've seen one that fooled the bank for several days! There's not much I hate more than a thief! >:( If we chopped off more thumbs we wouldn't have as many thieves. :)
