Got my 589 today Glenn, but it's a little underspec right now: I'm getting a 41mW average, and only 46mW peaks. I think I might've let it sit a little too long warming up before testing it, so I'm going to try again, but at least it's very stable. And the colour is sweetness, a very warm orangey...

I had thought of that, but I was preferring to keep the amp as stock just in case I needed to return it or something. I agree, that would be ideal though.

Interesting question here... I just got a battery powered headphone amp that normally runs off of 4 AAA batteries. They say it'll work fine on 1.2V NiMH batteries, but not as well as 1.5V alkalines. I'd prefer not to use primaries if I can though, so I phoned the company to find out if I could...

Whee, my Ti pen finally got here today. Haven't had a chance to fully test it out yet as I'm still at work, but I'll definitely be playing around with it once I get home and doing some power tests with it. First impressions are that it looks great though! And thanks for the extra accessories...

Hmm, seems I missed DJNY's response... Personally, I prefer the larger host and head size, especially for the higher powered lasers. More metal to conduct heat away, plus the larger size helps me and other people know we're working with a serious laser. Definitely not as convenient though.

In that case, it's even worse. It's a disappearing weapon.

Heh, you weren't kidding with the prices on those. Might consider the 5mW version, but that looks to be out of my range right now.
