thats what I was told by some friends who work with high powered lasers in labs IR filtering is needed they said for anything 100mW and up if not as low as 50mW to be really safe I also was told that the IR filter will reduce the output by about 3-12% depending on how good the optics are

yea I was talking about the red lasers, I would like a green one but I understand that I need a IR filter if its a higher mW and I here the cheep ones dont have these - so I will go with red for now
