    lightboards using 5 mw 650NM leds ?

Alright. If it is a red pointer you're using to help yourself, but you want it to cover more area, get something like this... New Style red laser 200mW /adjustable [OLNRL200] - $45.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce ...and unfocus it. Should you go ahead with this, tell me and I'll do some...

    WL krypton 500mW = ???mW

$80 still seems like quite a bit for a host. And I like the size of the Spyder III.

    470nm diode

Very interesting thread. Good read. The chance of it being 470nm now looks, to me, pretty slim, but I'm in favour of getting it spectrometer-ed just in case. Also, are you going to try to get your money back from the seller and inform them that they're incorrect?

Playing with laser glow board and mirrors

This is my favourite property of 405nm lasers. I found that some fire extinguisher signs are glow-in-the-dark so at cinemas I always scribble all over them just before leaving. Then one time on my way home from school I found one of the signs on the floor. So I picked it up and I still have it...

    lightboards using 5 mw 650NM leds ?

Bit of confusion above. Flaminpyro didn't mean "have you tried googling this: (signature stuff)" but rather "have you tried using google to find a solution to your problem?" Regarding your question, it seems like having a board coposed of lots of 5mW laser modules wouldn't help - it would...

    WL krypton 500mW = ???mW

One day Wicked will wise up and start selling empty Spyder III hosts. That's the day I will buy from them.

    MANTIS Laser

If you are confident it is 1.5 Watts, if I were you I'd buy a Laser Power Meter for, say, $200. You can then take photos of the laser being measured and proove that it is 1.5 Watts. You will then, almost definitely, be able to sell it for over $1000 on the forum. And then you can sell your LPM.

    Laser Circle

I think we need to donate money to get someone on the forum to buy one and disassemble.

    Laser Circle

Well, bearing in mind you just told me where they came from, I'd sort of expect that if it was feasible as a cheap source of diodes you'd have jumped on it before I'd have known about it :p But, that's interesting. Is there hope for them to supply us with diodes sometime in the future, or is...

    Hi another newbie from UK

I'm currently living in Norwich - specifically, in the UEA campus, if anyone's interested. And, regarding the above, I personally prefer to use aluminium foil. It's way more moldable and less useful for other stuff.

    Laser Circle

Oh right. This old problem... I'm never sure how to word it. I'll try once again :P What application are the diodes being manufactured for? Surely they're not just being manufactured for use in our lasers?

    2x Lazerer Riffle445 1W (29% overspec)

I added the top part because Sodium Hydroxide is potentially very, very nasty and I didn't want to give you some wrong advice and wind up turning your fingers into soap or make you inahale something horrible. Might want to search for the thread where it was done before and ask whoever it was...

    Hi another newbie from UK

Hey, welcome to the forum. I'm a brit too, with a tendency to pounce on anyone I find from England and demand to know whether they're near enough to me for me to meet up with. So, in what area of the UK do you live? If you want it for astronomy, buy a 5mW green DX pen. Try it out, see if you...

    Never buy form Wicked Lasers

What laser was it? Because I'm rather fond of Wicked Lasers' old hosts. I'd just never be willing to pay for the whole laser at the prices Wicked charges, simply to gut it and stick in my own module. I'm not too keen on their newer models though. I hate the way they market their products...

    2x Lazerer Riffle445 1W (29% overspec)

Note: I don't know too much about this and you'll have to do research yourself before trying it straight off-the-bat. Someone used Sodium Hydroxide based drain cleaner to remove the blue coating from one of the Hotlights hosts. I don't know how applicable that would be to this though.

    Laser Circle

Ah, ok. I remember ModWerx used to stock 5mW 635nm diodes, but their shipping to the UK is unreasonable, so I never bought. Since this fellow doesn't look like he's returning, why don't we bounce this thread off topic by continuing to talk about 635s? :D Was it ever figured out where the...

Which of these laser modules should i use?

The end shouldn't really matter. Just the diameter. Can we have some closer pictures of where the old module fit? That'll determine whether it's a pressfit or whether it just sort of sits. Also, joshshermannn1, why are you so into Lazerer.com?

    Laser Circle

Ah, good thinking. I've actually never seen 635. How much were those diodes?
