    515nm diodes- It's not a hoax.

Firstly, don't comma splice. Not only does it look incredibly bad, it is also a blinding display of literary incompetence. Learn to either use a semicolon or to break up your sentences. Nor should you change tenses so many damn times the sentence becomes hard to follow. Oh, and while you're...

    515nm diodes- It's not a hoax.

I know know two things: 1. The 515nm diodes by Soraa aren't a hoax. 2. I was one of the few non-vets who did get my hands on one. Having contacts in the right places helps significantly with that. So, it finally turned up today, and I'll disclose what I can. Bear in mind that this is an...

    Resurrect the Build Guide?

That'd be because many cleaners can be used as a feedstock in the production of many different illicit drugs. I guess not. It did hit a fan; at least it wasn't my 7000RPM CPU fan. :yh: Those projectors were pretty awful, the colours were washed out, and they ran VERY hot, and were VERY noisy...

    Resurrect the Build Guide?

As some of you know, the anus at Crapio (no pun intended) tightened a little while ago, and they sent out their squad of lawyers to LPF. One of the mistakes I made was having a line: "A140 Projector Diode- 445nm" in the Build Guide. Consequently, those little short fat men in suits decided...

Where to find a decent hazer?

TriAngle Lights has one on eBay: 1200W Haze Machine Hazer DMX+ Interval Volumn Control | eBay At $250 or so after shipping, it might just be worth saving up for a proper hazer- they start at around $300 on eBay.

Where to find a decent hazer?

Judging by the context, it would be apparent that the second Wikipedia article would be the relevant one, not to mention the eBay link is completely irrelevant as a hazer and fogger are completely different machines. Judging by that statement, it can be inferred that the OP has: 1. Tried...

    Is fluorescence safe?

Depends. The radiation emitted from the sand is neither coherent nor collimated, therefore the inherent dangers that result from coherent or collimated light radiation is not present. However, it still does have the potential to cause flash-blindness. Just like how looking in an LED will leave...

What doing on with my 445? LED'ed diode? Dead driver? HELP!

Exactly. The driver can't possibly be dead; if it were you'd get no output whatsoever, or erratic output, unless it failed to full power (which is very, very unlikely). At the currents involved you may damn well save on the FlexDrives and go direct drive instead. You end up blowing up the diode...

    Upgrade from 510mW to 1300mW?

Don't forget power isn't everything, beam specs also play a large part. Can you give us any more specifics, or is it under NDA or confidential?

PLS Help: Simple Green Laser Modification

I'm guessing this is from a cheapy 5mW pen from somewhere? If that is the case then the pump diode is probably already maxed out, or near it. Turning up the current will do very little to change the output, and if anything, serve only to increase the heat output, and by extension, affecting the...

Blew my 500mw red. Bought 1 Watt

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you won't notice much difference if at all. If your old red was running at approximately 200mW (give or take a few mW), then it'll only be equal to 800mW or so of 650nm. It won't be anywhere near 500mW of 635nm.

Help with a DPSS Green Laser

It definitely is a thermal instability issue; I say this with a fair degree of certainty given the current circumstances in which the laser is running. DPSS lasers are extremely temperature-sensitive- small changes in temperature can (and sometimes do) cause large variations in output...

    Making better and more precise...

Well, I didn't say he had to move up. I was just suggesting it as an easier solution, simply because they have feedback. In any case the OP wants to do more than just draw a circle. If he wanted to just draw a circle then the tunnelgun would be fine. In this case he's actually wanting to scan...

    Making better and more precise...

Well, the question was how to use the HDD actuators to scan a circle, not how to make a circle. Open loop motors aren't exactly known for their precision; you can't get much out of one. Then again, it's a good start. Consider moving up to a set of 20kpps galvos soon. :P In any case, the circle...

    445nm burn-in gone wrong

It's all in the first line of the post :p Depending on what you may call a productive night, that is.

    445nm burn-in gone wrong

...or very right, depending on your definitions of what constitutes a productive night. In any case, I threw the 445 for my projector together, and was running it to take a few temperature readings, as well as temperature stability measurements. That usually implies long periods of sitting...

The DPSS Primer...(and how lasers work)

Some diode-pumped Q-switched lasers can run CW without modification, however, most can't. Q-switched lasers often have different optics (i.e. reflectivity of the OC will differ, as well as cavity layout) to lasers designed from the ground-up to run in CW. As well as that, 'hybrid-mode' lasers...

    Post Your Computers

Compressor cooling. LOL. I remember those days. :D Ooh, midget board :P Lovely paintjob on the 1200 too. (Oh, of course, then there's all his audio gear. Do want. ) That isn't a bad piece of kit, we either use Asus or Gigabyte boards in-shop. Never had an issue with either of those companies...
