You get shat you pay for.(generally) I've been happy with the DTR and SL. Podo sent me a couple also. Worked great. Just a guess, more work and more expensive to produce G-2 lenses. ( sure love how it works with a 405, really burns)

Survival lasers sells some great kits. Built a few myself. Get the diode from DTR The rest from SL. Solder two wires together.

If you can solder, you might me able to buy a 16x 209 diode from DTR in 405 mm. Contact Suvival lasers for the rest of the kit. Should be able to build a great little burner for $220. He also sells Eagle Pair google for around $40. A little over your budget. A lot of us have built burners wth...

Switched back to 600mA. Had one at 700mA. Lasted about 3 months of daily use. ( like using it to burn doodles on a piece of wood from my couch to the piece of wood by my tv.) Got cocky, tried one at 800mA. Lasted about 45 seconds before becoming a LED. My 600mA Puts out around 870mw. I'm done...

I highly recommend these. I've built a number of cool lasers using Gary's preset drivers.

I use those adjustable 2.2 drivers from SL. M-140, I watt 520, two 209 16X I'm a newbie, and have had nothing but good luck. No clicking sounds. My 209 running at 700mA is been with me a few months. Burn my name or a picture on wood from my couch during commercials. :) Tried turning one up to...

Totally right. I hope people pay attention to what you've said. I own a number of well loved Jetlasers. But, I also never screw my tripods into the holes provided. I wouldn't trust the one or two threads to hold a big,valuable laser. Clamps only.

I have much less experience then most of you. I do have an ESD mat gounded with a wrist strap I use. $45 Amazon. Photos I see of rows of workers assembling our phones and such, they all seem to be wearing a strap.
