    OPEN SOURCE: "CC-Boost" - 2.4 Amp boost driver - RC1

Re: OPEN SOURCE: New Boost Drive, 2.4A capable from one cell, tested and working Will the driver kill itself if there is no load on the output side? How does the output look when the input leads are brushed against the terminals? (Intermittent input) Where is the 3.6V on the o-scope coming...

What is wrong with those Chinese flashlights?

What cells are you using? If you're using 3x AAA, the batteries can't supply the current. The optics also block a lot of light. Out of the lens, you're probably getting 50-60% of what the LED is emitting.

What is wrong with those Chinese flashlights?

Not even $2, you couldn't pay me to take them! :na:

What is wrong with those Chinese flashlights?

Could be a combination of many things, such as driver, LED, and poor heatsinking. What exactly did you get? As far as I know, there aren't any fake Cree X-Lamp models, do if it looks like an XM-L/2 or XP-G/2, it probably is. Can you take a photo of the LED? Even with "good" Chinese...

    OPEN SOURCE: "CC-Boost" - 2.4 Amp boost driver - RC1

Re: OPEN SOURCE: New Boost Drive, 2.4A capable from one cell, tested and working rhd, awesome work. +1 If someone could make a batch (50-100) of these and sell these for $8-9 while giving some $$ to rhd for each driver sold, that would work out for all of us. I'm excited to see the test results.

    445 divergence?

Are you absolutely sure you're got the tightest focus? The lens barrel might not be fully screwed into the focus adapter, causing the focus adapter to tighten before the laser has achieved tightest focus.

    FastTech's AMC7135 "Advanced +" IC's ???

I'm pretty sure the "Advanced +" came from the fact that the chips are labeled as "AMC7135 350mA Advanced Current Regulators - SOT-89 (100-Pack)" and FT just cuts off the words and replaces it with a "+" just like the LED Flashlight driver.

    making fog juice?

A few drops of glycerin in a hot pan would do. :) http://laserpointerforums.com/f42/how-make-fog-without-fog-machine-better-beam-viewing-cheap-easy-all-58590.html

Which is the most suitable termal paste to use between diode and heatsink?

Yes, liquid metal is corrosive and should be avoided. Unless you're a hard core over clocker, haha.

    Translation needed (maybe Japanese)

I'm 90% certain that it's Chinese, but sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Got a New Maglite. What is the clear plastic blob on emitter?

Spot on. The dome also increases light output by altering the index of refraction. Some very technical info here: Flashlight Optics - Dome, Dedoming and Throw | BudgetLightForum.com

Should have checked your site first, thanks!

That's amazing! Any pics of the rear? I'd like to see how the lights are set up. :)
