Osram set for green diode ramp in 2012

So exciting!!! Our green DPSS will become like the old green argons..It's just so unfortunate that the beam quality keeps decreasing...Argon>DPSS>Diode

Black Weekend. I lost three 445 diodes!

    I'll have to try it........thx

Black Weekend. I lost three 445 diodes!

Yes, At first I had 2 diodes in series. 1.2A 10V. It had been running for many, many hours without any issues...see my avatar. After they both popped I used a single diode...which also blew after modulation. The conclusion: (thanks for all the input from you guys) I'm going to buy this...

Black Weekend. I lost three 445 diodes!

Thanks for that....problem is that I live in the other hemisphere...in South Africa. Just for the record I was using the old type Flexmod. I purchased it about 2 years ago. I thought buying the new type would solve my problem..perhaps I should try a different driver. Could anyone assist me in...

Black Weekend. I lost three 445 diodes!

I agree with you MarioMaster.... So must I accept that the modulation from the Flexmod caused the premature death? I was using the older type Flexmod. I see there is a "new" type selling on ebay now for $39....I'm tempted. Is there another possible driver anyone knows of that works well. It...

Black Weekend. I lost three 445 diodes!

It would go from 0-1.2A extreemly quickly........I wouldn't have guess this as it's "still within its current limit"

Black Weekend. I lost three 445 diodes!

I'm devastated! Loosing a laser is like loosing a child. It feels like I lost my entire family is a plane crash this weekend... I now know what caused it...but I still don't know why The short verison: Saturday I embedded my 2-3 watt(PBS) home-built lab build laser into my laser system...

    Laser beam temperature formula?

Is there a formula to work out the estimate temperature of a beam if you take into account the power, wavelength, etc? If not anyone know temperature estimates of say 100mw 500mw 1 watt 5 watt etc? Thx B

    Beam table ***Any Ideas***

Thanks for the great info.. I will look into it... I don't know anything about DMX stuff..Something new to learn.

    Beam table ***Any Ideas***

Thanks for the reply. I'll try explain it another way. The white laser will have nothing to do with the beam table. It'll go straight to the galvos. The beam table will be on top of the laser system as an extra. I have the lasers and drivers so there is no costs involved. Alignment shouldn't...

    Beam table ***Any Ideas***

Hi fellow friends, Ok, so I still have six 445nm laser diodes. My idea is to build an optical table with each laser pointed to a ball and socket mirror. I know traditional tables use a single laser with several actuactors to steer the beam onto a mirror. These actuactors are about $25 each...

    Outdoor pics. 2 watt 445 1 watt 532

So yesterday I decided to crank one of my 445nm to 2A. Highest previously was 1.4A. I attached the guy to a peltier cooler (from a mobile mini fridge) and compared it to my 1 Watt 532nm outside. Mid-air they almost look identicle in brightness. Only when I spray some aerosol in the beam does...

Pumped 10 Watts into blue DPSS.

Actually you 100% correct. Mmmm, this sounds like much more work to get this thing lasing than I thought. I pulsed 10watt into a DPM crystal and got HUGE amounts of green light. No fuss. Easy setup. I have some c-mounts lying about too. The correcting part will no doubt be challenging. If it...

Pumped 10 Watts into blue DPSS.

Hi BKarim, If I were to focus on the crystal this would block the path. This is not a DPM module. as found in laser pointers. It has a HR and HT mirrors. ie: HR mirror, Nd:YAG, BBO, HT mirror Anyother ideas?

Pumped 10 Watts into blue DPSS.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't connect the TEC as I was pulsing the 808nm laser to prevend heat build up. I moved the dot around the HR mirror(it has external mirrors) for about 30 minutes without much luck. The unit is pretty solid so I'm confident everything is still aligned. I'll take some...

Pumped 10 Watts into blue DPSS.

I bought this cool little blue DPSS module on ebay. It has all optics, TEC etc. Problem is that I pumped 4 watts(recommended max input) and got no result. Then I cranked it to 10 watts. This produced a little blue. Probably less than 3mw. My million dollar question to my fellow LPF experts...

How visible is red laser beam to you>?

I recently stripped a short open can red laser out of a SWF**** bluray sled. Can't remember the exact name. Ran it at 380mA and I found the beam to be very visible. Even outside looking perpendicular to the laser is was visible Oh, and I only paid $24 for the sled on ebay. This gave me +-300mw...

How visible is red laser beam to you>?

That's my 500mw 635nm laser.. Beam is extremely visible outside.

445nm vs Orion HV Series 635nm divergence?

I'd say don't waste your money on a high power 635nm laser. I bought one for $700 and it is awful. I installed my into my projector only about 60% hits my scanner mirrors. Yes, the beam is that big! It basically looks light a flash light after 10m. I wouldn't even call it a laser. I recently...

6x SF-AW210 What mA for the red diode?

Thanks for the help eveyone. It must be SOC. I ran the diode @ 350mA (as suggested by you guys:) ) for an extended time last night and all was well. I'm pretty impressed with the little guy. The beam was very visible outside. I'd guess it must be about 200mw. Sad thing is that I spend huge $$$...
