Don't waste your $$ on high power 635. Rather go for a 300mw+ single mode 660. 635's are more like bright torches than lasers due do the horrible square beam. I'm sure those 635's with good beam quality are really expensive due to corrective optics. I spent $700 for my 500mw 635. Worst...

I want one!!! I bought the cavity on ebay awhile back. Was about $25. It was just the cavity that included TEC, optics etc. No pump diode or PSU. I pumped 10watts of 808nm into the cavity from from my fiber laser. Only got about 1mw of blue. Must have blown the coatings off the mirrors.....:(...

Well. just in case anyone was wondering there is a solution. 12V regulated power was not enough voltage to drive both diodes in series. I used 18V and it worked perfectly:):):)

The short answer. SUCCESS! Last night I connected a 445nm to the Flexmod P3. Threshold 150mA, Max 1.4A. I first I ran the modulation at 1K pps on the software. This resulted in a random flashing of the laser. After awhile I increased it to 45K PPS which produced a steady beam with very little...

I have my two new Flexmod P3's. As per all the excellent advise on this forum, my 300mw 660nm volunteered for possible death by modulation. I'll modulate it between 20mA-300mA. If he survives I'll hook up the 445nm.....

It's not really worth it all the trouble. Yes the beam is brighter(although not double in brightness) but the problem is that because of the horrible fast axis, your output beam will be a +. So the core is brighter than the rest of the beam. I spend a huge amount of time with the alignment etc...

UPDATE: 20 FEB 2011 My two new Flexmod P3 have arrived and sitting in customs. Should have it before the weekend. Going to try modulate another 445nm and hopefully it doesn't kill it. Will post results....
