red laser i want help me

Wouldn't this driver run that diode better? 2 pack Red laser/808nm laser diode driver 80-500mA w/TTL [OLDD20] - $5.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce That driver is recommended at 400-500 mA, but the original driver only goes to 350. This one can put out up to that 500mA mark. Of course...

    1 Watt Blue Laser.

I dunno, frying a few $50 diodes might encourage a bit of reading up! :D But seriously, that's why I'm terrified to build one. I still don't feel like I've read posts enough to make sure I set current correctly, check heatsinking, focus optics and so on and so forth. I keep seeing the same kind...

This is why you shouldn't point your lasers at Aircraft. Prime Example.

Some of those choppers fly low specifically to catch idiots with pointers. I have a friend that's a pilot for a major, yet unnamed, airline, so I asked him about lasers and his job. He told me that realistically, lasers are just "really fucking annoying", and the biggest threat is during a...

    wickedlasers, warnlaser, or o-like?

+1 for looking locally before going overseas. You might spend more, but Customs won't pick it up, you'll get faster ship times, and you questions will be answered (mostly) in English. Plus, some of the custom hosts around here are beautiful!

    1 Watt Blue Laser.

No. No it does not. 1 watt will blind you and then kill your dog just for fun. While I support freely giving information, I want to be clear that no one's first laser of any serious power should be a 1 Watt. I didn't stress this enough, but I should have.

    1 Watt Blue Laser.

Ahh, well compiled. You certainly did better than I could have! Have some rep for being awesome!

    New from Colorado

Well, this seems pretty spiffy. If I had a powerful non-blue laser, I'd be willing to give it a shot, as a fellow Colorado laserist, but I haven't had the funds to get one quite yet. Anyways, welcome to the forums, Hope you can find someone to help you out, and STAY OUT of the Buy Sell Trade...

    1 Watt Blue Laser.

Tempting, isn't it? I actually just had this same thought last week, but after looking at the parts and their specs, it turns out that driver will kill that diode. Not to mention that a first build shouldn't be infrared, since you can't see it to get the focusing right. I was going to build an...

    1 Watt Blue Laser.

You're going to have to spend that much for a 1W blue. Lazerer just came through with a wonderful Rifle Series for $170 shipped for me.

    SOLD: 2,150mW Guidesman 445nm w/ G1 - Shiny Silver / Chrome

Re: FS: 2,150mW Guidesman 445nm w/ G1 - Shiny Silver / Chrome You just made me consider a new credit card for this one. Love that host! Well done, man, hope you can find a buyer that can actually afford it :D

Order placed/received:1.2W 445nm Rifle Via Lazerer

Re: Order placed:1.2W 445nm Blue Rifle Via Lazerer I ordered one as well, on the 24th, but it was here last weekend. The postal service is so inconsistent sometimes that it makes me wish I could afford private couriers. Good luck to you!

    Lazerer 1W 445 Rifle

Only from a moderate distance, or outside. Unfortunately, I've already delivered this to its new owner, so I can't get a picture, but the dot was quite clean, with a slight rectangular artifact off to the side if you were looking for it. I think I was pretty lucky with it.

    Donating to LPF

First time donor, but you know what? You guys are awesome. I can't chip in a whole lot, but I wish more people would be like me and just throw in a few bucks. I am so excited to get my new 1 watt 445, and it's all thanks to LPF! I hope you guys can stick around forever!

Another "OH GOD I'M BUILDING A LASER WHAT" thread

Perfect! Now I know! It looks like that diode only runs up to 150mA, where the driver puts out 1100mA, so that's not going to work. I think I'll try to find another supplier for a 405 diode closer to that range. Thanks for the help!

Another "OH GOD I'M BUILDING A LASER WHAT" thread

I do recall reading something about 405 and 445 needing higher voltages now that you mention it. I'm not set on the 808, since I know it's difficult and/or dangerous to work with, I was just looking for the maximum power for what I was paying. My new question is this: What determines the...

Another "OH GOD I'M BUILDING A LASER WHAT" thread

Well, I'm looking into building a laser. My problem is that I have a pretty good amount of Amazon gift card credit stuck on my account, and nothing else to really grab, so I'm hoping to source as much as possible from there. So far, I've got the following components: Module Diode Driver I plan...

    Lazerer 1W 445 Rifle

Yes, it did come with some orange-tinted goggles. Forgot to mention them, but I suppose it would have been a good thing to note! I did say diode. Crap. Well, you're right!

    Lazerer 1W 445 Rifle

Over Christmas, I had a relative approach me and ask, "Hey, you know about lasers and stuff, right?" I nodded a quiet yes, and subsequently had a credit card in my hand with the instructions "I want a blue one. Make it burn stuff. Oh, and can it look like a lightsaber?" Well, the last part made...

    O-like 400mW bluray laser review

I suppose it would, if you had it focused and/or left it on the same spot long enough. Of course, that's not the intended use and I can't be held responsible if you scar yourself or something. Just sayin'.

    O-like 400mW bluray laser review

If mine was as good as his, I'd say it was pretty good. Pop dark balloons at ~8 feet, burn through paper and electrical tape, light fireworks from a few feet away. You won't be starting fires or candles, but if you've got a dumb enough friend, you can certainly make them yelp at a distance.
