    How much heat is normal?

I think ionlaser555 did a good enough job of explaining how to figure that out. Calculate power in, you have an idea of power out. (battery power in) - (optical power out) = (waste heat) The rest depends on how efficient the components are.

Cooling 700mW Module, How much is enough?

Definitely not enough for passive cooling, maybe with a good fan but I still think that's pushing it.

    I know NOTHING, but...

500mw is enough power depending on how fast the laser is programmed to move, and lower wavelengths are best like blue or purple. But I would stay away from a seller like that. Looks like he used MSpaint to make it look like he used the engraver to put his ebay name on the phone, very misleading.

    High voltage generator (20-30 kV)

I'm not sure about that, back in my physics labs we were all told that it only takes 8mA to stop the heart. I know using low power sources it's unlikely the 8mA will make it to the heart, but with what jaggions is playing with I wouldn't go as for to say "therefore non-lethal"

    Case neutral host?

I've used a few of survival lasers C6 hosts and the case does carry current to the pill, but the heatsink and diode is electrically isolated from the case by the host's coating. I've asked Garoq about this before for an IR build and he did suggest using an anodized aluminum sink if I wanted to...

    Case neutral host?

3D printing a host comes to mind, case neutral and can be made elegant with good finishing techniques.

    Some help, advice, or whatever...

I was really disappointed the "E-Drive" never took off like it could have. I don't think you did anything wrong, it came in when 445nm building was in full swing and I guess most builders felt safer and didn't mind shelling out $20 for the drivers that have been around longer. I think the other...

    Some help, advice, or whatever...

I feel for ya, that's a very scary situation to be in, is there no appealing to her father or any other family in the area?

Seek Thermal Camera vs Energy Audit

Thanks for the advice everyone. I decided to go with the energy audit with plans to buy a thermal cam in the future. I want a better image quality than the standard seek camera and with flir coming out with a couple new cams this year it I'd rather wait. I'm really happy with how the audit went...

    Meet Marley

I think 15min is plenty of time for the water conditioner to work. Also we can compare them to the wild betta's somewhat but they're a very domesticated fish. A lot of hardiness has been bread into them over the course of the aquarium hobby. If you want to bump your tanks temp up a few degrees...

    Meet Marley

If your room temp is good enough, I'd say you don't need a heater. I haven't use a heater for years and I haven't had any fish health issues with what I kept.

Seek Thermal Camera vs Energy Audit

@ Teej What are some of the more common misinterpretations? Ideally it would be good to have both so I can collect my own data and be sure of the interpretations but budget wise I really only want to do one. I'm confident I could rig my own blower door aswell. The company I'm considering hiring...

Seek Thermal Camera vs Energy Audit

Exactly lol, It would be an easy choice if the picture was a even a little better, but how helpful can it really be if I have to look off camera to know what I'm looking at?

Seek Thermal Camera vs Energy Audit

My wife and I recently purchased an old house and we were considering getting an energy audit, the kind where they use a blower door and a thermal camera, to resolve any insulation issues that are less apparent. We actually found a company that would do it for only $100. Our issue is deciding...

    50 Watt UV Light

I guess there truly is a market for everything, kudos to you for finding it. I agree with Ped and Cyp though, you're not impressing anyone without showing it's power.
