NEW Portable DPSS Wavelength - 556nm 20mW CNI

It's a PGL-III-C. It has all those FDA safety features (interlock, keylock, shutter, time delay) that everyone seems to hate. (Personally, I have no problem with them). So it's FDA compliant, has an accession number, and advertised as a portable laser, not a "pointer". So >5mW is OK to import...

Review: 510nm Direct Green Diodes / Build Photos (DGH-N1, DGH-N2)

Actually, Glenn, I'm planning on a trip to California in the spring or summer, to visit with a friend and buy a HeCd from Daguin. Unfortunately, it'll be Sacramento so i'm pretty sure that's a bit too far for a day trip... Where exactly are you? (I should know this...)

    Drivers for green diodes

The green diodes are still rather hard to come by, and are, effectively, still mainly experimental and available as "engineering samples". (This is just beginning to change now.) They're also very expensive for relatively low power. Historically, red diodes were 'commonplace', but low power as...

Florida first time laser buyer... now hooked.

Ken, It's very possible with the chinese sellers that the $45 300mW unit may be more powerful than the "1000mW" $139 one indeed... Did you pay on credit card? I'm guessing probably not... If so, you may have some recourse... but with stuff like lasers, it's tricky. Where are you located? A...

    They're here! - MOD38s, 3.8mm diode

Re: Heads Up: MOD38s in Shortly Well, RHD, down for at least 2 of these for reasons you're likely aware of. Though I may PM you on that. Hopefully won't miss the boat on these, haven't been around the computer much again.

    Good source for 685nm lasers?

These diodes appear as a very dim red. Great if you're a collector of wavelengths, but, most folks won't care for them.

Heads Up.. PayPal/eBay the F%$king GREEDY PIGS.....

Re: Heads Up.. eBay the F%$king GREEDY PIGS..... Most recently, Paypal put a 5-day hold on a *refund* for me. I couldn't understand this at all. My money goes in --> to other person. An hour later: Other person refunds my money ---> bounces back to me. ... and they put a 5 day hold on it...

Hit in eye with 1000mw 445nm blue laser

So is it pretty much static at this point or do you find yourself compensating for it? I have LED damage in one eye (no, not laser -- LED, from an experiment where I 'slipped' while examining a Nichia blue LED die at threshold with a loupe years ago) - it happened 10 years ago, and it seems to...

    Build your own HeNe kit?

This site (i-fiberoptics) is the company that bought Metrologic int he late 90s. Their handheld GreeNe has always been kinda cool to me, but I know damn well nobody on this forum is gonna pay $750 for 0.05mW :) (Ebay, maybe...) They're living off of educational grants so they likely actually do...

    100mw 447nm Laserglow polaris

The Polaris, at those power ratings, *are* beam corrected. I did a review on one. It should NOT be a bar, it should be a multimode circle/dot. Power isn't the only factor there is... (though I know to 95% of folks here, it is...) The prices directly from CNI for the beam corrected models...

FDA Import Alert 95-04 Issued 12/14/2011

Hmm. Am glad that my next CNI order is gonna be lab style... I may stick with that going forward...

Has anyone ordered this? If not, I will.

There is Something "Wrong" With My Beam/Spot

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing, Qume. When I first saw this was when I was screwing on the "clear" lens of my Arctic. At certain rotations, the 'square' would appear, and at others, it would not. That "lens" is just a glass disc (likely offset by an angle slightly) and...

    Lazerer's latest lasers

Since the "445 craze" and the advent of *real* cheap, *real* high powered lasers; combined with the uptick in Chinese sellers, I think we have reached a 'point of no return' here on LPF as far as this sort of "profile" goes. There's a majority of traffic that centers around cheap, high-output...

    special wavelengths?

Hate to ask again on that Glenn but, my GLP-589 possibly in there? :) Ava has actually stepped up and has been replying consistently and working with me. They've been providing me with power and spectrometer graphs... If you want details, sure, we can talk in PM, but, so far, it looks like...

Review: 510nm Direct Green Diodes / Build Photos (DGH-N1, DGH-N2)

I can assure you: it looks like absolutely any other 3.8mm diode out there. No different. As to what RHD said and the 'name of the manufacturer': To put a finer point on it, in fact, I'd say us being tight-lipped has to do with the OPPOSITE of selfish motivations -- we don't want these to go...

There is Something "Wrong" With My Beam/Spot

Just a note. I've found that an occasional 'square around the beam' that only occurs while focusing is actually back-reflections into the diode, and then back out. BE CAREFUL. I never let any of my 445s 'linger' in this state, as back reflections have ben known to kill diodes.

    special wavelengths?

CNI can usually provide you with an invoice; the trouble is they only accept payment via wire transfer and Western Union. It pays to do your homework on this; I recently switched banks, and my wire transfer fee went from $90 to $12.50.....

If you've been looking for a GreeNe, read this.

I think it is an error. I've gotten aldens from mi-laser before, and I *know* it came USPS, and I know it wasn't $16. In fact, I have a 9mm diode *in* a USPS box right here, shipped from mi-laser earlier this year... So I think it is an error. Call them, i'm sure they can help.
