    Build quote? ~1W 635nm

Like Flaminpyro said. If you want to play safe then set the output on 500mW, the nominal value. I have build a 1.4A 638nm laser for borgqueenx and it did 1191mW peak on the LPM.

    Build quote? ~1W 635nm

An output of 1 Watt is possibe with the 500mW 638nm Mitsubishi diode. You will need an excellent heatsink for the laserdiode because at this overdrive the power will drop fast and I doubt it will sustain for 120+ seconds.

Maybe the wind from the back is faster than the driving speed. :p

NEW TOOL: Calculate Relative Brightness (of Wavelengths in nm)

I think it is incorporated in the calculator. It is quite obvious that you don't compare a 1mm beam with a 50mm beam. A comparison should keep the circumstances equal and only the wavelength is changing.

class V (5) laser build specifications

That is speculative. Class V isn't defined and could be anything. Why not class VI with imaginary beams and dots. :D

680nm Deep red laser custom build

That is a nice build with the 9mm 680nm diode. I never heard of it too. My closest laser to this wavelength is 685nm. The color is just deep red like the 660nm but weaker and less brilliant.

    Uk: Tr16340

Why doesn't the 16340 work ? The battery should deliver 3.7V and that is what you need for the laser. It doesn't matter if the voltage comes from rechargeable or NON-rechargeble batteries. Also 3V comes from lithium primary batteries and 3.7V from li-ion rechargeable batteries. There is no such...

CLOSED: ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

Re: OPEN: Taking orders ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy! The color of the 520nm and 532nm lasers are different. Especially when you put them side by side. Both are green colors but different hue. You have seen the pictures so take your conclusion from them. Both lasers have an...

    Fasttechs 'Express shipping only' policy?

Re: Fasttech's 'Express shipping only' policy? Transporting li-ion batteries are very restricted now. They must be put in a container or in the device self. Loose batteries are not allowed to ship anymore. The post companies use X-rays to scan the packages and if they find something that looks...

issuing with soldering to contact board.

You are not heating the contact point enough. The gold plated surface should have no problems with any solder. Or you solder station is failing. Make sure the solder tip isn't become loose from the heating element.

For sale : 501B lasers with copper heatsink from $80

Both lasers will burn just fine. The 1Watt laser is already powerful enough to do anything the 2W laser can do. Make sure you have a safety goggle when you have the high power lasers. I collect laser because they fascinate me. The beautiful colors in a straight beam makes me very happy. :D

This Is What a Laser From the Moon Looks Like (Photo)

Thanks for the information. I find the photo not very impressive. It is just a blob of light with no details. Btw the laserlight travels 1.3sec from the moonorbiter to the camera.

    I sent you a PM. :)

New member here! I have a quick driver question

That is independent. The laser diodes need specific current to operate and the driver will provide that current. The driver has several options where to draw the current ie from one or two li-ion cells. That depends on the type of driver.

New member here! I have a quick driver question

Battery configuration depends on the driver you are going to use with the laser. You may read these threads: http://laserpointerforums.com/f44/how-select-your-laser-parts-73851.html http://laserpointerforums.com/f67/how-laser-diode-drivers-work-explanatory-thread-71513.html...

    Laser for aquarium pest elimination?

A high power 445nm will do the job. I quote one of my customer who bought my 2.4W laser. And yes a safety goggle is a must when working on close distance.

    Who's selling the $1 17mm Contact boards?

Use Google Search. It is a much better tool than the forum search, https://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&q=diode#hl=nl&q=+site:laserpointerforums.com+17mm+contact
