Are laser safety glasses ALWAYS needed?

I'll try to explain my understanding of this in layman's terms. The light we see from a laser beam is light that isn't staying inside the beam and directed forward since we are seeing it off to the side, and therefore it is laser energy that is actually "escaping" the directed beam, and...

Are laser safety glasses ALWAYS needed?

I've read the many postings where it is said that laser goggles are mandatory if you don't want to suffer any damage. But then I always read posts where people say something like, "Wow, this laser's beam is so incredibly bright!" But if the safety goggles filter out the laser's light, then they...

Recommend me a laser from Amazon?

I honestly don't know. It just seems to me that $1.99 for any laser (shipping included all the way from China) seems too good to be true. But that's just me. Today, I've been looking more toward Jlasers. Great reviews and really good prices. Thinking of the 700mw green one. I think it's...

Recommend me a laser from Amazon?

I tend to believe that it's just bait to get people to hand over their credit card info. I could be wrong, of course. You know, when a deal sounds too good to be true...

Recommend me a laser from Amazon?

That E-bay one.....$1.99 and free shipping all the way from China? How could that be profitable for them?

Recommend me a laser from Amazon?

Well from what the ad shows, and what the Youtube demonstrated (see post #5) about them, it seemed pretty impressive. About 25 years ago was when I bought my first laser of any kind. It was a red 5mw that was about $20. Now, I could get a 3 pack which includes a red, a blue, and a green--with...

Recommend me a laser from Amazon?

Thanks! Yeah, a 2 Watt green must be pretty awesome! Would love to see one in real life since videos can't really do it justice.

Recommend me a laser from Amazon?

Well, there are some videos posted on Youtube by people who have bought several of them saying that they are overpowered. If that's the case, they'd be a real bargain. But I thought maybe the sellers decided to power them down if they got any backlash from Amazon about it. Here's one of the...

    Anyone?

Recommend me a laser from Amazon?

After hearing so much about how lasers sold through Amazon are very overpowered (or at least some of them are), I was hoping to get suggestions as to which of these would be a good deal. What I would like is one where the beam is clearly visible. The "legal" ones people use as cat toys don't...

SciFi repair help - ex SciFi customers only!

Nah, don't feel bad. Like you or someone else said, those batteries can go bad for no reason. I had them checked at BatteriesPlus and they found them to be good. That wasn't too much trouble.

SciFi repair help - ex SciFi customers only!

I finally sold my nonworking laser to someone and they took it apart and found almost the same as what Grainde found. So I guess SciFi did this sort of thing to plenty of people. Oh well, at least I got 9 days of fun out of it. Probably lucky to have even gotten that.

**(SOLD!)**SF501b 445nm blue laser "as is", plus extras $40

Re: SF501b 445nm blue laser "as is", plus extras $40 (REDUCED!) I'd much rather not be putting more money into it. I would just like to sell it to someone who could fix it themselves. With so many people telling me how simple it is to build a laser, it leads me to believe that it must be...

Re: For Sale: SF501b 445nm blue laser "as is". $50 BUMP! (For some reason, my last post didn't bump it) EDIT: Could someone else please bump this thread? When I do it, it doesn't work. My post never goes back to the top when I bump it or make a posting.
