    CLOSED Copper modules - 5.6 & 9mm - $2

Would love to see what you you come up with!

    CLOSED Copper modules - 5.6 & 9mm - $2

That really depends upon how you use your modules. I don't typically flush mount them into drilled holes in heatsinks. In my builds, I thread them tightly into threaded holes in the front face of copper or aluminum heatsinks that I machine. I prefer copper heatsinks for my higher powered builds...

    CLOSED Copper modules - 5.6 & 9mm - $2

Many ppl will polish copper then paint with a clearcoat finish to prevent oxidation, but that would also hold in heat for laser builds. If you only clearcoated the exposed parts and leave the parts in direct contact with the host body uncoated then the heat would be able to dissipate through the...

TAKING PAYMENTS: C6 Copper heat sinks & focus adapters

Re: GB: C6 Copper heat sinks & focus adapters Guys, remember what Matt said. It's a laser symbol, ie a circle with radiating lines, not a complete LPF logo. Matt, I'd like to get some of these as well. Will have to work out how much $ I can afford to put into this before I can give you any...

    Bending Light?

I agree with that as well. That appears to be what the photo is of. Not difficult to do at all with proper alignment of the mirrors. Bob

5W ophir 20C LPM by Offroad now + datalogging

Re: 5W ophir 20C laser power meter by Offroad That is really odd considering that you're using a pair of 9V batteries to power the Ophir. I've seen this sort of thing when power supplies are used that have too much noise on the output power leads, not so much with batteries. There must be noise...

    Trying to adjust output. Help!!

That was the first thing I noticed, 1K resistor vs 1 ohm resistor in your test load. I too was suprised that mixup was not noticed and pointed out sooner. That alone can cause a boost driver to exceed maximum rated output voltage and fail. Also, beware of using the much more common wirewound...

North Korea threat getting serious!

I have no doubt that there would be a large scale response planned. What concerns me, besides the obvious massive loss of life of a nuclear event, is how massive the disruption to command and control that takes place. Nuclear EMP will damage a large portion of critical infrastructure that can...

North Korea threat getting serious!

She's playing right into what they want. They had already decided to target a site in S. Korea as their first real nuclear target. The only thing holding them back thus far had been determining WHICH target to hit first. I fear that target may very well be Seoul if postering forces their hand...

    Laser tragedies: Share your story

I didn't take pics but I was adjusting the crystals on one of my DPSS lasers while pumping at 25W and I was using the cast aluminum base of my brand new very expensive microscope as a temporary beam stop. I was wearing my goggles and did not notice the 532nm output was burning a hole in the...

North Korea threat getting serious!

I seriously hope that you have some place safe in another country for you and your family to go for a good little while. It's not going to be safe for you there, and nothing that the UN has planned is going to prevent it. My intel sources say prognosis is not good for S. Korea.

Review: Devil Cyber 405nm - 500mW Focusable Violet Laser Pointer

For those that want to turn down the power, or replace the laser diode, it requires a sort of unique press to get the heatsink assembly out of the host barrel. It must be pressed from the battery end to get it out. A press must push on both sides with a wide slot to avoid damage to the driver...

Review: Devil Cyber 405nm - 500mW Focusable Violet Laser Pointer

I didn't even think to ask at the time which diode they use. I do know it's a 5.6mm in these. But even with the baddest diodes available installed, you can bet they will be severely overdriven to even higher power. They don't stick to the overdriving limits that most experienced hobbiests here...

Review: Devil Cyber 405nm - 500mW Focusable Violet Laser Pointer

I have one of these as well. I picked mine up directly from the factory while I was in China. My biggest complaint is how much they overdrive it. Mine was set to 503mW. It really lacks proper heatsinking for that power level. I turned the driver down to 282mW output power, it's still going...

    200mW 532nm VS 500mw 635nm

Lensholder is in the head, shown here on the left. This is a 500mW 405nm build in one. The real GD-350 style host the lensholder threads in, some of the chinese copies it presses or glues in. Edit: Yes, turn the head to focus.

    200mW 532nm VS 500mw 635nm

Not normally, most green modules use different threads on the lens. It'll take a little setup time to get your movable lens set properly to collimate your beam over the focus range you wish to cover. You'll get some good experience in the process. Edit: The lens holder presses or glues in, the...

    200mW 532nm VS 500mw 635nm

I have those GD-350 type hosts. The lens holder that comes with them holds an Aixiz type lens, 9mm X 0.5mm. The "heatsink" is a press-fit aluminum plug with a 12mm hole, and no hole for a set screw. Not all 12mm modules will press in tightly as most are really under 12mm. There is no seperate...
