I think the 1 watt resistors are those big ones. Radioshack has the smaller ones in a 10 pack(10 or 5 pack) for $0.99. Yeah you can use the 25 ohm pot.

That would be awesome if you could still use the mouse feature and the laser in it. Set it up so that you must press both buttons at the same time to activate it.

Some green lasers will slowly get brighter and then reach full power. As for the second one, you might need to check connections on the spring and the battery. Mine needs to be cleaned cause it does that too. It could also be a switch problem. ALSO, mine acts exactly like your second one when...
