Hey Bob. Thanks for putting this together. Is this how the new board does PM's or is this thread "visable" to others? -woody

Anyone ever work with the NECSEL 10 watt 520nm before??

Very cool find. can't imagine what they cost new. If they have a .22 NA fiber with 600um core you should be able to get about a 1mRad collimated beam with aprox 5" starting beam diameter. so, a 300mm fl lens with 150mm dia should get the beam collimated.

What is this set of optics used for?

you are spot on with the exception of #3. You can still focus to a point with the -lens in place by moving the two lenses further apart.

    Recent advances in self-frequency-doubling crystals

28Watts was the max I could juice of her:eg: this was 20 years ago but i think the KTP was 2mmX2mmX5mm:beer::beer:

    Recent advances in self-frequency-doubling crystals

That probably explains way the KTP in my Lasercope (built 1988 iirc) was so tiny. Alignment was uber critical. If the intra cavity beam touched the wall of the KTP it was game over and the KTP would crack. Still amazes me how much power went through such a tiny crystal.

    Recent advances in self-frequency-doubling crystals

Laserscope had a 20W KTP intra cavity 532nm laser in the mid to late 80's. Im sure they were doubling the yag 1064 line in the 70's.

Three (3 ) Axis Adjustable LD Mount

No problem. Got your PM. Ok, so after lunch I built another one since my machines were still set-up for it. Anyone else want one? All I ask is some feedback + or - on how it worked. Also, Sorry to Bob CDBEAM777 for the hijack. It wasn't my intention.

Three (3 ) Axis Adjustable LD Mount

It sounds like you want to argue semantics. That is kinda lame as I said in my rant earlier. Anyway. I figured I would use my time more productively. I built a 3/4" round test rig for someone here to try. (link to pics at bottom) Basically its a simple mount with M9 .5 threads on each...

Three (3 ) Axis Adjustable LD Mount

I'm not exactly sure what you are getting at. Isn't this the important part? Is this not what we are trying to accomplish? If you mean you can't know if the diode is "exactly" in the middle. This is true without special equipment. But if you mean that the diode can't be moved with .01mm...

Three (3 ) Axis Adjustable LD Mount

What I posted earlier. Maybe you missed it. "Here is the back of a 10X P73 combiner I was just prototyping. It worked pretty good. Rotation is still a bit finicky but can be done with some patience. On the plate that holds the diode I cut a slot and drilled two holes. The slot allows me to use...

Three (3 ) Axis Adjustable LD Mount

My suggestion for those that want to use correction optics, is to get away from the pressed in type mounts. A simple mount that allows the diode to "slide" X, Y on the rear face of the mount is all that's really needed. And .001mm resolution is easy with only "bare hands". This type mount...

Three (3 ) Axis Adjustable LD Mount

Link should work now. Hopefully. If you put the emitter in the center then all the other work arounds to fix the pointing error are not needed. KISS principal.

Three (3 ) Axis Adjustable LD Mount

I'm not trying to be a Dick here. Really. But, is everyone on this board a contrarian? It seems like many here want to argue for arguments sake not to learn anything new or advance our understanding. ---rant over--- Maybe Concentric is not the exact word. Maybe I should have used "coaxial"...

Three (3 ) Axis Adjustable LD Mount

Yes, lots actually. A few things can cause the beam to exit off axis. A. The collimator lens could have some degree of tip or tilt. Good machining can solve this problem. B. The most common is the emitter is not concentric relative to the lens. This can be solved by shifting the diode X...

Three (3 ) Axis Adjustable LD Mount

I follow these threads because I really love mechanics and new ways to do things. I'm trying to wrap my head around the need for pitch adjustment though? Can someone explain?

New High Power Red VSHIO HL63283HD LD

Has anybody done a optical power vs I graph for the HL63283HD yet? I'm curious where the knee is at.

    Pulse driven NUBM44 ?

I doubt the laser module RC has posted has two laser diodes in it. First, the extrusion the module is made from would be difficult to house two combined diodes. Also, the lack of any adjustments to overlap the beams would make it mostly useless. Second, it seems if it had 2 7-8W diodes they...

    Pulse driven NUBM44 ?

I have done some research and experimenting on pulsed diodes. I have pulsed a m140 diode at 10amps 10% duty cycle. The optical power output was only slightly less than running the same diode at 1amp continuous. I imagine the difference was due to increased VF from the die attachment wires...

    NUBM44 Dry Ice Run

TEC's are only about 10% efficient. So plan on 130 plus watts just to run the TEC element. Not to mention the giant finned heatsink needed. Also need power to run a fan on the hotside plus the 20 watts to run the diode. Doesn't seem practical for a handheld device with self contained power...
