Rubik's Cube Guide! Solve that dang thing!

My cube disappeared years ago, probably in a residence move. You've certainly reawakened my interest and I'd appreciate those links for good quality cubes. The ones I see on Amazon and toy stores seem to have pretty poor reviews in terms of quality. Thanks, Ed

** catched by police yesterday night **

Ouch, That hurts! Losing the laser is bad enough, but having potential legal punishment on top of that is really too bad. I guess it's a lesson for all of us to know the laws in our countries before using a laser where anyone else can see it. You have my sympathies. :cryyy: Ed Just saw...

    Hello/Merry Christmas!

Welcome aboard, happy holidays, and, as many others will tell you, be sure to get safety goggles rated for the lasers you are going to build. Ed

    Hey All, Newbie Here

Hi Meebs, Thanks for joining and posting. One part of your post especially caught my eye (sorry for the inadvertent laser pun). ;) It is not a good idea to be shining a laser through glassware or at any reflective surfaces (white walls included) in a room full of people unless you and all...

    Hello all

Welcome from another new member. If you're looking to buy a laser, don't hesitate to check the Laser Pro, the Group Buys, and the Buy, Sell, & Trade sections. You can find really good quality lasers built by forum members and good deals from companies if you spend some time reading in those...

    Micro-Drive laser driver by rkcstr

Hi rksctr. I recently ordered two drivers from you and they arrived quickly and well packed. Thank you. One small problem is the two drivers were not separated--i.e. they're both on one board. I tried to gently snap the two drivers apart where the board appears to be scored but it doesn't...

    Discharge those capacitors

When I was about 12 or 13 years old, I was working for my dad's construction company and had just started a diesel engine using its gasoline starter engine. When the diesel started I was looking for the metal shorting tab used to short out the spark plug and kill the gas engine. When I found...

How many times have you been on airplanes?

Commercial flights, about 70-75. Private aircraft, either as passenger or pilot, about 205-215. But of those numbers my skydiving logbook proves that I've taken off in an aircraft 136 more times than I've landed in one. :yh: For those times I failed to land in an aircraft, it works out to 53...

HomeLand Security Plans to Kill USA Citizens

Wow. You're fortunate that you didn't lose them in that tragic boating accident that most of us have experienced. :shhh: ;) Ed

    Fedex vs UPS!

I prefer USPS. They are so much more convenient to me than the big truck shippers. I have refused to order small items from some companies because those companies don't offer USPS as one of their shipping options. Ed

    FS: Laser Tools

Just a belated thank you for the fast shipping on my order. The diode presses, wire, flux and pot-setting screwdriver all arrived quickly along with the shrink tubing which you threw in also. It all looks great and will be put to good use when I do my first build. Thanks

40mW Sanyo 635nm LDs on Ebay

Thanks for the suggestion, Blord. I'll keep an eye out for those. I probably won't get a chance to try a build for a few months anyway. Things have been sort of chaotic in our household recently and I barely have time to sit at the computer to try to keep up with the forum as it is, let alone...

40mW Sanyo 635nm LDs on Ebay

Thanks for posting this. I just paid for two @ $20 each. I haven't done a build yet, but I've been gathering parts and one of these may be in my first attempt. I noticed that these are listed on eBay UK, but the seller is listed as in US. I'll post when they arrive. Ed

can cold "fry" a cheap red diode ?

It probably depends on your operating system. I'm running Windows XP Pro and I can find such characters by going to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character map. You can find all the characters you'd ever need there. Ed

Laser in the Field of Medicine

I've never heard of a laser being used in this manner. Are you thinking of lithotripsy where ultrasonic (high energy sound/shock) waves are used to pulverize the kidney stones? Ed
