Review: 510nm Direct Green Diodes / Build Photos (DGH-N1, DGH-N2)

510nm is a color that is rather useless for display applications, I expect it's availability to increase VERY slow as the manufactoring process matures and real green is cheaply possible. When that is easily possible then the research areas or medical applications needing ~510nm light will...

What should you know when buying goggles (glasses)

First: The chinese don't get what OD means: What is it, OD 5+ or OD 6+? Calculating back this says the OD is between 4 and 6. The worst of all: nothing is actually guaranteed, it's just sold as laser safety goggles and that's it. Most will work, some won't and leave you as good as unprotected.

    5000mw laser for sale!

Would it be possible to have a "derailed" sign next to the topics title? I can't remember for each thread whether it's worth reading or not and the title doesn't aways cover the content...

Why all the hate on the 1%?

I'm still studying, and even there it's clearly not logical. The management/financial studies can be done in 4 years and some people do 2 of those at the same time while the technical studies are supposed to be 5 years but almost nobody passes within 5 years, 6 years is still quite good. Both...

UK Seller - 532nm Analog Green Laser Meter Reads 1mw to 70mw

How did you calibrate that thing? Care to elaborate why you use any filtering? What is specifically matched? Wrong, 808nm and 1064nm is NIR, no special heating ray that magically will damage paint, that's jsut by pure power for anything absorbed. I doubt it's accuracy, it's antiquated after...

The Facts about Eye damages - or What is (not) safe ?

1.1 You're probably refering to green DPSS laser pointers. these lasers are diode pumped solid state frequency doubled lasers. The infrared used in this proces can leak out and needs to be filtered. It won't be reduced to exactly 0%, but a good IR filters reduces the IR down to a very low and...

    Goggles for 445nm AND 635nm

^^this A CE certification for laser safety glasses means it's compliant with EN207 or EN208 which have a typical rating.

TEC Basics - Do they need to be driven?

I'm definately interesped too, but I too don't ahve a lot of free time, so maybe somewhere in the hopefully not too distant future I'll have a good laser diode test bench. My test equipment (PSU's, multimeters, power meters, scopes etc) are all hooked up via GPIB, so I'm getting there.

EVER KILLED A DIODE?? see this..

I have a HP 54111D oscilloscope and a HP 8118A pulse generator, if you're curious enough to have something measured, I'm curious too. I've only once heard of a TVS before, I think it was even on this forum.

    For Sale Coherent CR12 Hd

Coherent CR12 Hd sounds like a supergraphite laser, those are really really old.

Review: 510nm Direct Green Diodes / Build Photos (DGH-N1, DGH-N2)

At $250 I may even consider one, they're only getting more rare as time goes by.

    MW pulse laser

It's a Q-switched YAG laser, look at wikipedia or sams laserfaq for more info Probably not, my guess it that it's a multimode laser and you can't improve beam quality with a lens. Your pen size green laser isn't pulsed. And how do you straighten a pulse? Grab it by the two ends and pull...

    Question about diffraction gratings

13500 lines/mm can't be right, that would be a 74nm periodocity. The periodicity must be larger than the wavelength or nothing will happen.

    HELP: IR Laser 808nm Polarity?

Usually IR diodes are case positive, the red ones are usually case negative, but that's from the top of my head, you should check it to be sure.

Using a crookes radiometer as a LPM

If you shine a low power laser on the reflecting blades and let it reflect to a photodiode you get a pulsed signal out with at the rotation frequency*number of blades. Still it's more a gimmick than a power meter.

Need an inexpensive laser power meter.

That one looks familiar :D For an inexpensive LPM the shipping will indeed matter, where are you located tsteele93?

    wattage and goggles?

Look better, I have some laservision goggles that can take 100W/mm^2 (or 10kW/cm^2) and they still have even better ones. OEM laser systems just has the usual professional stuff. At higher powers not only the right OD is important but also if your goggles will melt away before your face or not...

    Crystal got misaligned maybe ?

My guess is that it's dirt, hybrid laser crystals don't ge misaligned, and if they misalign with respect to the pump diode it may modehop or lose power, but a messy beamprofile is most likely dirt somewhere. If the laser didn't have this weird beamprofile when you got it it's probably dirt and...

    broken green is it repairable?

Sounds like a few dead batteries to me. You're digging up an old thread btw
