Review: 510nm Direct Green Diodes / Build Photos (DGH-N1, DGH-N2)

The chart and data you're dissatisfied with is over 80 years old, and a LOT has been done since then. Every discussion of color perception I've ever seen here has been based on the 1931 chart, which in turn was based on 1920s experiments. If you're dissatisfied with the color perception...

Why are laser dot shapes diffrent?

Laser dots are different shapes because lasers are different shapes, simple as that. Incorrect. It is still a single emitter, but the emitter is larger, allowing multiple modes to exist. The larger emitting area allows more power, but it's still just one, not multiple. This is still...

WHY ? What made that Diode look this way?

    Nah, not really.

Is there such a thing as a "hobbiest grade" spectrometer?

LOL, honestly, you're reading way too much into the math thing. Look at the directions, it says "using a program...we fit...". As in, the software does it for you. As in Excel does it for you. Type wavelength vs pixel number into Excel. Plot the data in a scatter plot. Click the data...

    3 Lasers, 250mW, 405 & 650nm

Cereally? If you're really interested, I can do it...next week. Which one? Or all of them? I honestly don't remember, this thing is something like a couple of years old. From some 6x sled maybe? It's been a while.

    3 Lasers, 250mW, 405 & 650nm

No money order, sorry. Paypal. And shipped to confirmed address on Paypal. $50 is for the flashlight-style laser. The pen-style lasers: $100 for both, or $60 each. I'd rather sell both together.

    3 Lasers, 250mW, 405 & 650nm

Yes, they are all lasers. "Leadlight" just refers to the style of the case. Yes, located in the US. 605nm? I don't have a 605nm. I have a 405nm and 2 different 650nm. Which laser is it you want to buy? How about: $100 for both leadlights, shipped in US. $50 for the flashlight-style...

    Heatsink Calculations and Efficiency Theory

No need to reinvent the wheel with respect to this thermal conductivity vs. heat capacity trade-off. It's called thermal diffusivity: the thermal conductivity divided by the volumetric heat capacity. Alloy scattering has a large effect.

    3 Lasers, 250mW, 405 & 650nm

Still available. For $100 I'll ship both leadlights internationally. No, not really. I'm sure it's pretty close.

    Feeler: White Fusion Kit

If it was complete, I probably wouldn't be wanting to sell it.

Why are green diodes so expencive?

That last 10nm from 510 to 520 is a big jump. You start running into some serious materials science issues in that range, some issues that are still being worked on very actively. It'll get there. Blue diodes were the same way when they were new, and now they're great.

Why are green diodes so expencive?

That's why they're still in labs and not on store shelves. Soraa's paper has CW LIV curves for a 520nm green laser diode. The diode was actively temperature controlled. From the figure, at 30C, 50mW comes at ~350mA and ~8.2V. That's ~2.87W in, for ~1.7% wall-plug. The 510nm stuff is better...

Why are green diodes so expencive?

Several things. First, they're not just blue-green. Published results go all the way up to 532nm, and several companies have published in the 520nm region, which is very green. Also, the substrates are not made of rare-earths. In fact, in your average laser diode, there's not a single...

    Feeler: White Fusion Kit

I have corresponded with Flaminpyro about this kit, but I'd love to sell the entire kit rather than parting it out. So come on people, surely somebody wants an almost-complete kit?

    Cool Knife.

Not sure whether to post this in this thread or in the For Sale section, but what the heck. My 2 Microtech LCCs are for sale. Both are the awesome double action. To anyone you hand an LCC to that doesn't know what it is, it's a perfectly normal manual folder. But to you, it's a hidden...

    3 Lasers, 250mW, 405 & 650nm

3 lasers for sale, all are 250mW. 1st 2 are matching silver leadlights. Both beautiful. 1 is 405nm, other is 650nm. Both take 2 standard AAA batteries. The pictures aren't good, but the lasers are. Both have the perfect mirror finish, the pictures just show fingerprints, which makes it...

    1kW Xenon short arc

The lab I work in has a 1kW Xe lamp, I use it routinely nowadays. It's inside a safety enclosure, so no beam shots or anything like that. We use it as a light source for photoelectrochemical etching. It's bright. And pretty darn small, all things considered.

Anyone interested in buying 510nm green laser diodes?

They're clustered around popular/commercially important wavelengths, ie the ones they make regularly and bin. But any wavelength within the available range is possible. Notice I even said the top of the range is about 520 for Nichia, at least for what they've published, so of course 580 isn't...
