    G9 vs G2

As tttonyyy mentioned above (thanks Tony!), I did an extensive study a while back comparing the G9, G2, 3-element, and acrylic lenses, see here: http://laserpointerforums.com/f52/updated-g9-vs-g2-vs-3-element-vs-acrylic-study-85334.html G9 pretty consistently beats the G2 by 10-15%, in terms...

    For Donation - Prototype 4.3A Buck, "34LIFV6V2"

Any reason these are just 'prototypes'? Any plans for any production runs? (By you, or anyone else?) Just curious. Seems like you've been making some large strides in driver development lately. (Bigger currents, smaller sizes, and better efficiencies.) I'd love to see more options widely...

Would like to buy a LPM, need advice.

When I researched the heck out of LPM's, I came to the conclusion that an Ophir sensor was the best way to go. It's more expensive than a $100 Radiant, but you are getting much more for your money, i.e., an actual thermopile sensor. You can measure well over 5W (depending on how you power it)...

Could a 445 9mm 3W Diode be run on lower power with one battery?

You can't use a single 18650 with an x-drive for a 445 diode. X-drives are 'buck mode' drivers, meaning they require a higher voltage than the voltage drop of the diode (and then they 'buck' the voltage down to the diode voltage.) For a 9mm 445 diode, the diode voltage is about 7V when running...

Advice on side button build - first build

Yes, the 9mm is a better value, IMO. You could run it at a lower power, but honestly, why bother. If you're paying for the diode, why not get as much as you can out of it? Frankly, in terms of safety, there's little difference between 1.5-2W and 3W. They both can easily burn and blind you...

Advice on side button build - first build

No, the 9mm is a different diode than the M140. More powerful, and a different size (9mm vs 5.6mm for the M140). It's newer than the M140 (which superseded the A140). https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf/home/diodes/9mm-445nm Yes, there is the x-boost, but as you've discovered, they're...

Advice on side button build - first build

I can understand wanting to get all of the parts separately, so you felt like you 'built it yourself', but honestly IMHO, DTR's options are really the way to go. He makes it easy by pre-selecting all of the best parts for you. If you want to go high power (2W+), you're better off going with a...

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please Rick got nailed? What's the story there? I must have missed it.

Advice on side button build - first build

This might be a little different than what you are currently thinking, but this is one of the reasons why I like vintage hosts. Most of these old flashlights have side switch configurations that are both momentary and non-momentary. Sometimes the switch can be both at the same time (momentary...

Best 4-cell charger with integrated voltage monitor?

Hi all, I know the topic of chargers has been discussed here before at length (and yes, I've done my searching/reading), but given that there are always new ones coming out, I figure it might be time to revamp the discussion. I'm looking to buy a 4-cell charger that has the integrated voltage...

Review: Vintage all-copper Rayovac builds #3 and #4

Hello all, This is my review of a third vintage build I've done, using a solid copper host from the 1930's made by the Rayovac company, and a copper heatsink made by Jeff K (aka Flaminpyro). This build is actually similar to my previous Rayovac build, but with a slightly different heatsink...

Checking interest in $43 445nm 3W diodes with lenses.

Petters, A couple of quick questions: Will the modules be copper? Also, are the lens holders the same brass ones as DTR's? Thanks, Andy

Free: "Wandering box of laser goods" USA only

Just received the box this afternoon. It arrived in decent shape. The corners are a little smooshed, but it's 100% intact. Holy crap there's a lot of stuff in there... Some pretty random items, too. :) Gonna be fun to go through. I may have some questions about some of the items...
