    The economy of laser diodes

I doubt you are the first to think of that, and there are quite likely some arrangement to stop that. Like, the diode block does not exist as a spare part? I am not sure how to articulate it but there is a huge difference between the >1mW reds for button cell keyrings and a diode that require...

    1W 808nm for night vision

What about gutting a cheap 532nm? If you remove the crystal setup you would have the IR diode, driver, flashlight host, and an adjustable lens.

    The economy of laser diodes

There is free marked theory and then there is reality. Reality is the place where the free marked lead to the creation of monopolies and exclusive deals, it is somewhat mitigated by governments and their antitrust laws. Here are some easy to read examples of free marked reality. 6 Companies...

where can i get a 445nm blue laser pointer, a 20-30 dollar or cheaper one?

Well, it has been a long time. A ship with poor connection changed my habits for a while.

where can i get a 445nm blue laser pointer, a 20-30 dollar or cheaper one?

The closest you will get is a 405nm for $10 on ebay. It will be sold as 5mW and likely give out 30-50mw meaning that you will need glasses for yourself and everyone you want to show it off to.

Anyone interested in buying 510nm green laser diodes?

I would be interested in one, after a examination from a member.

    12-21-2012 ending of mayan calendar

Those Mayans showed centuries more foresight than those software engineers who made a calender that rolled over in 2000. :) I am not sure why their "turn of a new cycle" would have to be an end of the world? (except of course it makes for some cool doomsday prophecies:)) As for ancient...

    Attention retards

Laserbee have a good point on the cost of a LPM for police use. It got me thinking of this article in one of Americas more reliable news sources. According to that it may be possible for a cop to simply guestimate the power output of a laser for sale. (A depressing article btw.)

    Attention retards

The only thing missing from the happy bust is a few headlines on it. (For educational purposes) A few police raids on the beach shops with LPM's would limit the number of dumbos with lasers, and get more attention on the whole safety issue. I am not sure if 532 is manufactured in 5mW at all?

    445 lasers power underwater

The ROV on my last vessel handled communication through a fibre optics cable inside the steel cable tethering it. (Along with a 3KV power cable) Establishing it's exact location were done with some kind of sonar transponder system. It did have a laser, a green line shining down on the seabed...

    Wow deal or fake?

I think that one of the reasons for their reasonably low priced is savings on support. You are not likely to get hold of anyone there knowing anything about their products. Companies like Rayfoss, Odicforce, and O-like give guarantees and support. They also carry better lasers at higher prices...

    Power Supply

There are lots of components, you just have to set the specs for each. e.g. a resistor is 50 Ohm by default, you click on it and type in the desired value if different. It took me a while to locate the right menu for all the components, and I have still not gotten it to simulate a circuit even...

    Power Supply

It is a bit tricky, the power supply creates a voltage difference between + and - . A resistor is a conduit for current, the higher the resistance the small the hole for the current. The voltage drop across the resistor increase linearly with the current. Diodes act a bit different, as once it...

    Wow deal or fake?

I have that XX-850, mine measures at 45-48mW unfiltered. It is a pretty good deal, even though it has a bit of a warm up time and is not waterproof.

    Power Supply

The drawings have the pot in the voltage divider between adj and ground. In order to adjust VOLTAGE. The 9V is fine and that is what you want coming from the first lm317 to the second. The second will then be set up as a current regulator and automatically drop the voltage to whatever drives...

    Power Supply

I am trying out a new simulation program called Qucs, it is no problem to draw the circuit I just can't get the simulation function to work, or export the drawing.' The idea is that on the first LM317 you connect a 100 Ohm from output to adj, and then 600-700 Ohm from adjust to zero. That is a...

    Power Supply

That circuit is not regulating anything. It looks like you have just strung components together until the current were acceptable.

Making your AixiZ driver work. The solution!

That works for me. Possibly, but not messing with the pot means not knowing how many mA you are supplying to the diode. A bad idea.

4W Blue Diode Coming! Single Mode Too !!

It will likely be quite expensive to get a curve for life expectancy vs. % over driven. :(
