**(SOLD!)**SF501b 445nm blue laser "as is", plus extras $40

Re: For Sale: SF501b 445nm blue laser "as is". $50 I picked up a used older laptop dvd-rw drive on eb@y for about $4 just to practice diode extracting. It had a 3.8mm open can red in it. But I doubt it would produce much, being that the 5.8mm LOC diodes can do around 300mw.

    Where to find parts

This is just confusing, and incredibly vague. You need to say what laser you actually have for starters. Also include you location in your info, so we can give you a good idea of where to look for parts.

    Best lens for mits 500

I've heard to use the g2 or g7 for the commonly available lenses. Or if you can find a Meredeth lense, those were supposedly some of the best lenses for red lasers.

Analog volt and current panel meters.

I'm sure Cyp or Benm can explain it better, but I believe you only have to use a shunt resistor to measure current, if the amperage that you're trying to measure is higher then what the meter can handle.

    LPC-826 twin

Just search for "Aixiz". They even have a ebay store. they'll have modules, lenses, and drivers.

    I'm over thinking this help!!

Are you sure that is the laser diode model number? IEC 60825-1 has something to do with laser safety standards. Otherwise, you need the actual model number of the dvd rw drive to try and figure out the diode part number used.

    Some Due Justice

Just noticed the Oilite bushing part. These bushings (at least the ones used where I work) are used with machinery, and are actually impregnated with a light oil. So that when they get hot, they will seep some oil out, to keep the shaft (or whatever is running through them) lubricated. So...

    test/dummy load

That would be nice to have a fully dedicated setup. I know those digital volt meters at Harbor freight can be had for under $10. I don't know if it's a ammeter though. Also, if it was all setup in a custom project box, you could add your own heat sink for the test load. I have access to small...

    Nice! Good idea!

    test/dummy load

Cool, thanks guys! Looks like Survival Lasers it is. BTW, I have seen some random ones on eb@y. But being what we use them for, I just wasn't sure if those would work. At least this way I know what I'm getting. :yh:

    new phone

LOL. It's more like hating to work on your own car after working on other peoples cars all day, every day. Which is why you see many mechanics driving around in run down beaters. I used to turn wrenches until '08 when the economy really tanked. being that I'm still a motor head, I do miss the...

    Batteries

As far as the protected batteries go. They are a good idea with high drain devices, including lasers. But the protection electronics makes the battery just a tiny bit longer, which can possibly cause fitment issues. Especially with full custom hosts.

So you can! :o See what happens when you listen to the sales people at the phone store.

oclaro 700 638nm first build advise.

I agree. Also if you have good solder, and some flux/tinner, You should only need to just tag the leads with the iron and the solder will flow onto them. I'd give it a shot on some random components first if you're nervous. It's not too difficult if you've got a steady hand. :)

    new phone

I wonder why they changed how to take a screen shot from the Galaxy S5 to the Galaxy S6? I have the S6, and taking screen shots suck! You have to swipe the screen from right to left with your hand, keeping contact with the screen the whole time. It usually just ends up moving the page over, or...

    test/dummy load

Anyone have any sources for a good test load? I know of Jufran88's 3A test load, which looks nice. But he hasn't been active since February, so I'm not sure if those are still available. I thought that I'd ask here first before I waited for an unknown amount of time for him to respond. I think...

    need hard/high power laser

Really?!? 1st you don't have the knowledge to know what a realistic power range would be. Then you say this purposed super laser of yours needs to be used "like a weapon"! I don't know what your actual end game is here. but at the very least, it's bizarre. At this point, I'm not sure if anyone...
