Search for universal scope mount rings. As long as you can find a host with the correct diameter, those will work.

Free is always good! That's why I said that they're good for practice, if you would rather extract your own diodes. Just remember that a lot of red spectrum diodes are open can, so there's that extra precaution that you have to take.

Welcome to the forum! It looks like you're off to a good start! You already know about some reputable vendors that sell good quality lasers. And Gray at Jetlasers is a good guy. From what I've seen, he's always trying to do right by his customers if something happens to go wrong with his products.

It'll probably have a low ma red diode in there. Not really worth the time extracting for what it is. BUT... it's good practice if you plan on doing more extractions to get higher power diodes!

I think that you're assuming power input will give the same power output throughout the entire range from 0-5.5A. Which isn't true! The higher you push any diode, the less power output you'll get from the relative power input, until you get fold back and start losing output power. Or just kill...

I haven't been able to get ahold of a 515 yet. Maybe someday. But... If you think that you want a 520, I'm thinking about selling a basic build that I did with a green 501b and a pl520 diode.
