it may be a good idea not to run the laser on setting 9 for too long too often. its the amount of current being sent to the diode and wont increase the output, instead run down your battery quicker and heating up the unit quicker. on the notes Jack would have stated the optimum setting for...

personally, i never left the laser on for more than 30 seconds. when i was testing the power output, i ran it for 45 seconds. it will live if you stick to the duty cycle.

if you think 7% is a big saving for you then go for it! these lasers are built pure quality right through out. if your careful when using it, you will never have a problem it, i never had a single problem with any of my RPL's.

most of these have sold now. i have the laserman >130mw 650nm focusable and the >200mw bluray made by Daguin left.
