I think it's more a scientifically-minded thing....question claims that are made with little self support. Case in point, that article gives no quantitative data, it basically says "wow powerfel diemond lasor."

The IP part is correct. I googled it a while back and found sites that let you embed invisible images to say, forum PM's, (or normal thread posts), and then recorded the IP of whoever viewed it and logged it, allowing you to trace location and whatnot. Could be also used for spammer traffic...

I'm sure people have been looking for quite some time, as there is actual (ophthalmic) use for yellow diodes. But besides that there are gas lasers and optically pumped lasers to get the job done.

There is no semiconductor that bridges the yellow gap for lasers, it's not a matter of commercial need.

Looks great! One thing I would do: run the laser for as long as the duty cycle allows (or if it's unlimited, just run it a few minutes), then test the resistance of that spring- it seems awfully long, and I could see it getting hot fast and causing connection problems. If it is super hot after...
