Good idea. I never bothered trying to use the front cap on any of mine, never thought to just cut the sticky-outty bit off :D One of the few lasers I am keeping is my ~200mW single mode 450 pen, maybe I will put a cap on that one. It really does make it look nice.

oklol @Joey do you have a "normal" 633nm HeNe to get some comparison pics with? It's always cool to see how much of a color difference there is between the two :)

They are all pretty similar, within one or two hundred mW (seems like a lot, but in terms of brightness it isn't that noticable). I suggest getting good quality batteries for the TiB, i hae junky crapfire ones and they have proven to be finicky. Gorgeous laser, you will be very happy with it...

Ignore that, overdriving doesnt cause that. The M140 is a Multimode diode (as opposed to single mode), which means rather than a nice round dot (like a single mode diode), it outputs a rectangle. Those "wings" on the side are normal. Nothing is wrong with your diode, it is that shape naturally.
