    SkyLasers PL532 - 700mW 532nm

Re: 1st. review There are multiple scientists and technicians currently analyzing the laser. In addition there is a PR and media consultant readying the public statement on it. Also the lawyer is currently consulting on this as well. Finally, a professional photographer has been hired for a...

Glass Reflectivity and popping diodes / DPSS damage?

Hi, I remember reading in some older posts about the danger of "popping" your diode with a direct reflection right back into the laser. It would seem this would be an easy thing to do if pointing directly at a mirror which would be a bad idea anyways. In regards to glass there are many reasons...

Dubstep or Drum n Bass - if you like it post a song!

PED that would be cool if you wanted to put some here I'd be curious to know some stuff you like in that style!

Dubstep or Drum n Bass - if you like it post a song!

Thanks Bloompyle Meatball and ElectroFreak for some more good ones! That George Carlin is hilarious. He was a great comedian and a very smart man! Since you guys posted some breakbeat, here's one of my favs from the older Prodigy stuff from 1994. Voodoo People! Cool video too, kind of low...

What got you started in this hobby?

I have always been interested in the process of producing differing spectra of colors in fireworks. Some colors like a very deep blue are hard to produce and many people keep their formula secret! I think my interests in lasers is similar to my fascination with the pure bright colors in...

    Lumia Glass Question

That sounds like a good project I might like to try, it looks really cool with the textured glass! Just noticed this DIY lasershow using this kind of glass rotating slowly. It reminds me a bit of the effect you see when melting plastic with lasers. I really want to try this now! At 3:05...

beam expander inside an olike laser?

Is it possible to remove the beam expander and attach it to other models carried by O-like? Unless is it AR coated for a specific wavelength?

    Anyone into hockey

As a Canucks fan I am too! :shhh: I am also glad to see Chicago eliminated in the first round after what Duncan Keith did to Daniel Sedin. There's been so many top teams eliminated by the underdog in the first round it's been a weird playoffs (for me anyways) this year..

Sold: 445nm @ 2500mW+ "Ace of Steel" MONSTER EDITION

Re: Selling: 445nm 2.5W+ "Ace of Steel" MONSTER EDITION You might need to wear some sunscreen when that thing brightens up the indoors:tinfoil::beer:

    Few questions

As long as you have good goggles it can be safe, but anyone around you nearby that could get hit by a stray beam or reflection must wear them as well, although that can be pretty expensive for multiple pairs. There is no harm - pun intended in starting out with <5mW lasers. Once you get used...

Your Opinion? bans- when should they be permanent??

Necroposting Fasciatus is the unfortunate diagnosis here Doc...:spank:

beam expander inside an olike laser?

It looks like it has a beam expander for sure. It's too bad they don't offer this model in anything over 100mW, it would definitely look like a light saber with that thick beam at 300mW+ !

    Few questions

Don't forget that you will absolutely need laser safety goggles if you are going to light matches. Any laser that you use indoors, are looking at the dot up close for burning etc. or if there is a chance of reflections you will need the goggles/ glasses. I would recommend a 100-200mW focusable...

Just scored this, what do you think?

That is so funny, all this time I was imagining that it was actually you in that pic! It's been a long time since I saw that movie, I didn't recognize the actor. Anyways, hope the laser arrives safe and sound it would be great to see some photos of it, or maybe even a movie when you...

Just scored this, what do you think?

Congrats on the purchase! Although I had assumed you were already in posession of a 473nm based on the man holding teh light-blue laser in the profile pic. :p

DIY 473nm / FRANKEN-TEK B&W Transplant To Handheld With TEC

Re: FRANKEN-TEK A B&W 473 Transplant To Handheld With TEC Interesting, I see thanks JLSE. I guess it's not like it immediately melts away in a pool of absorbed water then. That's good. :yh: I really enjoyed seeing the photos, best of luck on the rest of the project!

<5mW Candid Camera style laser Gag burns mans pants... (Canadian TV Just For Laughs)

Re: <5mW Candid Camera style laser Gag burns mans pants... (Canadian TV Just For Laug They do some pretty funny stuff, although they have been on TV now for 10+ years so I don't know how more people don't recognize them when they do their hidden camera gags!

DIY 473nm / FRANKEN-TEK B&W Transplant To Handheld With TEC

Re: FRANKEN-TEK A B&W 473 Transplant To Handheld With TEC That is very admirable to have accomplished that! Did you have any issues or concerns with the hygroscopic nature of the crystals used in 473nm as mentioned in the thread below? Is there a way of avoiding their exposure to the open...

Why do we buy lasers, will we get bored with them quickly?

Even though I probably only use my lasers for only a few minutes during the day, I make up for it by coming on LPF and getting my fix here. :) Just the time it takes to save up for a 473nm or 589nm means plenty of time for me to dream about them for weeks or months on end. Just the thought of...
