got my red laser today. it's a cheapo delux - but hey, it's what was expected. quite low powered, i tred it with used batts and it wouldn't read on my laserbee II. with fresh batts prolly is 5mW.
patience is a virtue. it can get frustrating waiting on the mail, but don't let them control your behavior. take a deep breath.....ahhhh. these postal workers are human and mistakes are made.
i would hope by now you have the laser - update?
myself, i never could see sending money to china for anything other than a green dpss. they do have some cool hosts, but i like the beam. for a red or blue or violet laser it's best to go to our buy, sell and trade section or build it yourself.
Re: FOR SALE Handhelds and hosts +473 BW
@livinloud sure does. this is the unit sig spoke of, i bought it from him. it's plug and play.
@tmack no, the contact board on the pill is ~ 15mm. but the pill is quite deep and roomy. there is room to mount a flex or similar sized driver on top of...
bloom, you do good work bro. a white light is like the grail for me. one day i will have one. many big huge gigantic congrats on you taking the risk and it working out right for you:bowdown:
i can understand some trepidation in sending pp funds as a gift, but...orf has shown his commitment and honesty in all the gb's. your money couldn't be safer than with him. you will get the laser you paid for.
there will be NO ir filter to remove from a cheap ebay pen. and some can have as much as 70% of output being ir. mW per mW 405nm will burn better, more energetic photons you know.
i would think a 445 laser at say 2W is the ticket here. if you focus it way in, the beam waist is very tiny with a hella power density. distance from whatever you want to cut is critical here tho. with good heat sinking and/or active cooling you could have an unlimited duty cycle. you would also...
well, that's from a cold start. after those 1st 60 seconds it smooths greatly. i'd guess this module in a tec'd labbie would do +500mW all day long. as it is, i'd say good value for $147
i have one of sinners msv4 hosts that i would like to trade for a host that uses a set screw in the heatsink. the msv4 is a fine looking and very functional host but i don't have a vise to press a module in. Pm me with what you have, it can be just a flashlight host
