    Aliexpress 200mW green laser review

Hello, I decided to risk my money into a laser from Aliexpress, I expect at least > 50mW from it, so if it burn stuff I'll be happy. THE STORE: The store are located at this address 'http://www.aliexpress.com/store/1512025', soon as I bought the laser, all the products was excluded from the...

    Laser weaker than expected

There's a chance that you killed the LD. A LPC-815 LOC at 390mA is very powerfull, something about 200 ~ 250mW. I made some lasers with it. Try to melt electric tape with it, this shouldn't be a problem for your laser. Be sure that it isn't overheating, LD's are very sensitive.

Blue laser broken Need help for fix

Hello! :yh: Probably you are only seeing a red wire because some contact are made by the host instead of a dedicated wire. But ... what happened to the laser? Is dim? Don't turn on? We need more details in order to help you!

Diode question (can be any color)

What model of drives do you got? I have some experience with DVD-RW diodes, maybe I can help too.

LaserBTB is well known here, I think is legit.

    Destroyed diodes - help

I always use 400mA for my red laser and it still working great. What model of DVD burner/reader are you using? You need to put it in a heatsink if you want it to last. For known red ones (like the LPC-815) I use 400mA, for IR ones I use 150mA, for unknown red diodes I use 350mA. For your tests...

Getting Ready For My First Build

I made the same in the past with my first 450nm laser, is really a good idea have a power switch, im my case, my 1,4W laser is switchable from 300mA to 1,2A with a LM338. If you need help with the circuit just tell us! :yh: Good luck! ;)

    Greetings from South Africa

Welcome! :yh: You already have some cool lasers, a green, a blue and other blue (I guess a blu-ray purple laser). You're aware of the dangers of it and have a goggle, that's a good point. Lasers are very addictive, so, remember, safety first. :yh: Welcome again! Enjoy your stay!

Would A Fixed Focus Laser Burn?

My 1,4W 450nm can burn my skin through 10m away, it also burns very well when set to infinity. I think the width of the beam makes big difference, my 250mW have a smaller beam when set to infinity and can pop a black balloon at 4,2m away, my 200mW laser can't barely burn anything when unfocused...

Bored! Super super not serious ghetto build

Different, if it protects the internal parts, then I call it a host. :yh:

has your laser ever gotten you into trouble?

Yes, in the night of new year's eve, I was playing with a boy that I meet at my uncle's house at the beach, I with a 5mW red laser, he with a 5mW green laser (not overspec, very dim), we was pointing the lasers at a antenna far away, but close to the antenna, some persons and kids was walking...

What music does LPF listen to?

I don't have a favorite genre, If I like the music, then no matter what genre it is. My folder contains: German music, Chiptunes, Dance, Misc, Dubstep, Euro Disco, Flash Back, Hands Up, MIDI's and Rock. There's others Brazilian genres that I have but I think is irrelevant here.

Hello - nice to be here - from Wales

Hard to say, the best method will be putting a IR filter at the output and try to fire a match again. Those 301/303 are more stable than the pen lasers, I got one a time ago that had the "mode hopping" effect, if you're curious, here is a good topic about it!

Hello - nice to be here - from Wales

Welcome! :yh: Those "Laser 301 / 303" are good for star pointing and for beginners, usually, it produces 50mW ~ 100mW, a good part of it is IR from the DPSS module, since those are chinese and the control quality are bad, there's no way to know the true power unless you LPM it, the most cheap...

my story (how i got my darwin award)

Sad history! Thanks for sharing! I got flashed several times by lasers, sometimes by some other person, sometimes by me. The worst case that made me scared was when I accidentally shined my laser into a window, and the beam reflected back to my eye, was a chinese green pointer, enough to blind...
